Wheel Of The Year Meditations: Ostara/Spring Equinox
This is a new spark on our Wheel of the Year journey. The natural world is coming alive, the Sun is gaining in strength, and the days are becoming longer and warmer. Ostara takes its name from the Germanic goddess; Eostre/Ostara, who was traditionally honoured with festivals to celebrate fertility, hope, and renewal. Today we will journey with through a woodland bursting with spring colour and seek light and hope as new dreams blossom.

Welcome friends.
So as we journey through that ever turning wheel of the year,
We have arrived now in the season of Ostara.
After the first sparks of new life appeared at Imvolk,
Ostara is now when spring really begins to emerge.
So flowers can be seen and birds are singing in the trees.
And we might notice a little more obviously that the days are getting longer and lighter and it's warmer outside.
So this is a really lovely time to celebrate and just hold a little gratitude for the coming light.
So we'll celebrate Ostara with a lovely guided meditation of course.
So let's get settled and comfortable.
You might want to add any extra layers to make sure that you're nice and warm.
You can be seated or laying down.
And just take your time to maybe close the eyes or let the gaze be soft.
We'll just begin to arrive here in this place.
So we physically got our body restful onto the earth or chair or wherever we're resting.
Let's also think about drawing in our awareness to our body,
To our breath and to our mind.
So whatever busy thoughts or worries you are carrying with you,
Maybe just pop them aside for a few minutes if you can.
Just allow yourself to tune in to the slow and steady rhythm of the breath.
Each inhale,
Each exhale.
Just letting that easeful pace be our focus.
Allowing the muscles of the body to settle and soften into the earth.
So we seek to bring just a little extra calm to body,
Breath and mind to prepare ourselves for our meditation journey today.
And there is nothing you have to hold on to tightly here in this place.
So any new thoughts or distractions that may jump into the mind,
We'll just let them drift away with no judgment or criticism.
And even the sound of my voice,
You don't have to pay attention.
You can just let the words float around you as you find your little place of peace and calm.
So perhaps in our minds,
We will envisage ourselves in a beautiful woodland and the signs of a star and of spring are all around us.
We see swathes of beautiful woodland flowers upon the ground,
Crocuses,
Snowdrops,
Daffodils,
Primroses,
Beautiful splashes of color amongst the bright green grass.
The trees are sprouting new buds and leaves and blossoms in reds and pinks and whites.
The time of Ostara is also the spring equinox when we reach that halfway point of night and day.
And you feel here in this woodland place that sense of the coming light of the longer days.
The spring sun is in the sky shining warm light and sunbeams that dapple through the branches and leaves and create a pattern of light up on the floor before you.
And you begin to walk down this woodland path you see before you.
And though you are not exactly sure where you may be going,
You feel comfortable and calm and safe in this place.
So you take your steps with ease,
With no hurry,
Taking your time to allow all the senses to enjoy where you are.
So you take in the colors and the sights of the flowers and the trees.
You might feel the kiss of the warm spring breeze upon your skin.
You might hear the sounds of birds and woodland creatures beginning to wake up from their winter slumber.
Maybe there is bird song.
And maybe you smell on the warm spring air the scent of blossoms and flowers.
Maybe jasmine and honeysuckle.
Or that fresh green scent of moss and pine trees.
Allow all your senses to enjoy this place.
And you find as you continue your journey through this woodland that you come to a beautiful clearing where the trees seem to stand sentinel around this place of beautiful light and space.
It is a space of green and of light,
A woodland clearing.
And upon the green grass before you of this clearing is a beautiful stone spiral,
Like a very simple but gorgeous labyrinth.
Like a fairy circle,
It calls to you to draw inwards to this spiral and to walk this path,
Taking ever smaller circles inwards but with no rush,
No hurry.
Walking this spiral path,
Drawing inwards slowly and easefully.
And as you reach the centre of the spiral,
This gentle labyrinth,
There is a beautiful beam of light from the sun that shines directly on the centre of the spiral and you feel its warmth shine upon your face.
Momentarily blinded by this light,
All of a sudden before you it is not just a sunbeam but a beautiful woman with hair as golden as the sun and a smile as beautiful as the spring.
And you may envisage her as a woman of significance in your life,
A woman that you find beautiful or inspiring.
You may see her as the goddess of spring,
Or stara,
As beautiful as the moon,
As beautiful as the moon.
As the goddess of spring,
Or stara,
As beautiful as the spring season itself,
As she beckons the oncoming life and hope and spirit of the spring season.
Maybe you envisage her as the Celtic goddess Ane,
The fairy queen who lights a spark of inspiration within her hearts.
Or maybe as the Hindu goddess Lakshmi,
Who inspires gratitude and a sense of abundance as she stands upon her golden lotus flower.
And this goddess,
This light,
This inspiration in whatever form they take has in their arms a basket.
And this basket as you peer in is filled with the most amazing and unusual seeds that you have ever seen.
Some of the seeds are small and round and shiny like beads.
Some are round and flat and large as hockey pucks.
Some round like walnuts but painted in primary colours.
And some as large as eggs painted with words or images.
The goddess invites you to pick a seed for yourself.
Take your time.
You might select a seed that appeals to you because it is very beautiful or shiny or sparkly.
Or there might be words or images upon the seed that mean something to you.
The seed may represent what you wish to grow and bloom this season.
Or maybe a message of hope,
Light,
Gratitude and abundance.
Take your time to hold this seed in your hands.
And let yourself dream of what it may mean,
What it shows you,
What it may inspire you to do.
And let yourself dream of what it may mean,
What it shows you,
What it may inspire within you.
There is no right or wrong.
It may be a message that means something to you now or will mean something in days or weeks to come.

She will be looking after these seeds.
She will shine every ounce of her love and light upon them to make sure that they blossom and grow this season.
And then the Goddess gives you a great big hug,
Enveloping you in warmth and light.
And once again,
She becomes simply a ray of sunlight.
And you feel the warmth upon your face once more.
You feel within your heart a little hope,
A little light,
A little excitement for the coming season,
Whatever it may hold.
And with the same sense of ease you walked within this spiral,
We will take our time to walk out of the spiral.
Once more we find ourselves in the woodland of flowers and blossoms.
And ready to leave this beautiful place and move on with our day or evening,
Knowing that we can reconnect to those seeds we wish to plant,
Those ideas we wish to nurture and those joys that we wish to grow and bloom.
So as we come to the end of this meditation today,
Take your time,
If you wish to take some deeper breaths or move your body,
Beginning to gently come back to the room and back to your body.
As I leave you now,
I will let the music play for a few more minutes to give you a chance to stretch and reflect on your journey.
But for now,
I will wish you a very happy,
A very joyful,
A light-filled Ostara and Spring Equinox.
Thank you my darlings and Namaste.

All of your meditations are beautiful but I find the Wheel of Year meditations most exquisite. This meditation was such an wholesome journey and though I couldn't find my intention to manifest, your meditation made me believe in the beauty of hope and new possibilities. Thank you very much and Happy Ostara.
