Greetings,
Dear ones,
And welcome to this next meditation on the Wheel of the Year,
And welcome to bright and beautiful Beltane.
In the Northern Hemisphere,
Beltane is May the first.
In the Southern,
It's November first.
And Beltane means the bright fires,
Or fires of Bell,
The Celtic god of the sun.
This celebration is about honouring life and abundance and light and joy.
This is the beginning of summer,
When earth energies and life are at their peak.
And as we journey today in this meditation,
I won't be using music,
But the sound of the forest,
The sound of nature,
As it is coming alive in the energy of summer and sunshine.
So as always,
Take your time.
Take your time to relax in your chosen resting place,
Laying or seated.
Make sure that you're warm and comfortable.
Can we allow ourselves to relax as we listen to the sound of nature,
Of the birds calling and the trees,
And the trees gently swaying in the warm breeze of summer's day,
As we tip over into summer.
Maybe you envisage yourself now in this forest or woodland or park or any green space that means something to you.
See the sun shine through the trees and cast beautiful light upon flowers and grass.
The sun is a little low in the sky as we are on a beautiful evening in May.
And there's that sense of hazy warmth.
You can smell the grass and the trees,
But also that scent from fields,
That dry hay scent that's warm and comforting.
And you really know that the summer evenings are on their way.
You hear the birds singing in the trees.
You feel that sense of warmth and light and all the summer holds for being outside,
Feeling joyful,
Feeling a little lighter and brighter.
And with this lightness and brightness in the air on this early summer's evening,
We're just going to take our time.
We're going to take our time to relax here,
To breathe deep,
To let the noise and busy thoughts of the day fall away and just let yourself be here within nature,
Within the space of sun,
The space of green.
Let yourself build this world within your mind's eye that is so peaceful and so beautiful.
And in this space of the summer's evening,
You hear nearby the crackling sounds of a bonfire.
And you are excited to come across a beautiful fire,
Golden flames dancing in the summer's evening.
And you stand before it and reach your arms out wide.
You feel the light and the warmth shine upon you and feel that you are drawing this light into your heart.
You are calling on the energy of the south,
Of fire and warmth,
The power of summer and abundance,
Passion,
Creation and inspiration.
Igniting the spark of life and your own fire within as you draw in the energy of the good fires,
Of Beltane into your heart from this beautiful fire in your own beautiful woodland.
And in this space of the summer's evening,
You hear nearby the crackling sounds of a bonfire.
And you are excited to come across a beautiful fire,
Golden flames dancing in the summer's evening.
And you are excited to come across a beautiful fire,
Golden flames dancing in the summer's evening.
And you are excited to come across a beautiful fire,
Golden flames dancing in the summer's evening.
And you are excited to come across a beautiful fire,
Golden flames dancing in the summer's evening.
And you are excited to come across a beautiful fire,
Golden flames dancing in the summer's evening.
And you are excited to come across a beautiful fire,
Golden flames dancing in the summer's evening.
And having basked in the light and the warmth of our fire and the sunlight,
We can continue to bathe in this light,
This warmth and indeed within the lush green of the forest and the colours of the flowers around us.
It is as simple as this.
To tip over into summer is as easy as taking a step,
As taking a breath.
It need be nothing more,
Nothing less than that.
So as we rest here in this beautiful place amongst the green and the light and the sun,
All we need to do is breathe.
Be in this place and breathe.
Enjoy the sense of being outside in nature,
Connected to the cycle of the year and the cycles of nature of growth and renewal.
I will simply let the sounds of nature play for a few beautiful minutes and I will play a chime at the very end.
So you know that perhaps if you feel you wish to you can leave the meditation or just rest here a little longer as you wish.
A joyful bell tame to you all.
