Welcome,
Friends,
And welcome to a new journey with the magic of the moon.
This 12-part series will follow the new moon in the cycle of the zodiac.
Each practice will start in the same way.
We'll take a chance to find a restful place,
A place where we can find calm and quiet in meditation.
And then from there I'll guide you through a few ideas that connect to a specific new moon and zodiac sign that you may use for guidance,
For inspiration.
Maybe this practice can guide a ritual or some journal work that you are working with.
It is my hope that these sessions will hold some interest and some inspiration for you.
The new moon is the darkest time of each lunar month.
And within each month the moon will move into the same constellation as the sun.
This lunar solar meeting is what we call a new moon.
The new moons are times for beginnings,
Stillness and introspection.
A time to sit in this darkness,
To reflect within stillness.
Through the moon's journey of orbiting the Earth each lunar month,
The moon will spend a little over two days passing through each zodiac sign.
This means that each month the moon's new phase coincides with a different zodiac sign.
And each sign has its own element and seasonal attributes.
We also have seasons of each zodiac sign known as our birth sign.
While the new moon is in each sign,
We may feel the energy of this sign,
Potentially more so if it is your birth sign as well.
And all new moons are a great time to make plans,
Particularly for the next six months,
After which the full moon will rise in the same sign,
Completing a cycle of our journey.
This is a starting point to consider the sign of each new moon,
And the kind of beautiful new moon magic you may wish to explore.
But before we journey with a specific sign of the zodiac,
Let's just take our time to relax and settle into a restful place.
We may feel called to lay down wrapped in blankets.
We may wish to be seated.
We may wish to have a notebook and pen nearby to write down our ideas.
Or simply to see where the journey takes us today.
It may be that you are enjoying this meditation on the specific new moon of the zodiac with which this meditation is titled.
Or it may be you are simply journeying to that new moon in your mind's eye.
As always with meditation and with magic,
It is your intention that matters.
So do not worry about taking this meditation at exactly the right time or in the right place.
There is always a way to journey to magic.
So when we have found our restful place upon the earth,
Perhaps we close the eyes or let the gaze be soft.
Exhaling and allowing an easefulness of body and breath.
Unhurried and calm.
As we begin to let the noise and busyness of the day fall away.
As we begin to let the noise and busyness of the day fall away.
With the new moons of the season of summer.
We find ourselves with the lightest and warmest nights here in the northern hemisphere.
On the wheel of the year we are passing through litha and midsummer and lammas celebrations.
This is a season to go forth and to bask in light and warmth.
To celebrate growth in this season.
To move and rejoice and laugh in sunlight during the days and feel restful and content with our adventures when the warm summer nights roll in.
Spells,
Rituals and yoga practice around this time may explore themes of abundance and joy.
To feel empowered,
Enlightened by this warmth around us.
For a support to strengthen and build upon this summer energy.
Tonight's new moon is in the sign of Leo the lion.
Leo is a fire sign.
So within the energy of this new moon is a chance to be bold,
To make sparks and plans that help you to shine.
You might be inspired to make big changes and to cast away any plans that don't bring you joy.
Maybe you throw out old ideas and start all over again.
You can thank your path for all you have learned as you prepare to dance down a new road lined with summer flowers.
Take your time to visualize that new road.
The colors of the flowers around you.
Bright yellows perhaps or blues or purples.
Vibrant pinks and reds.
Perhaps you visualize yourself walking down this path lit by a bright summer sun.
All the beautiful cool light of a new moon night.
Without the light of the moon there is simply the ambient light of the world around you.
Cooling and calming at the end of a hot day.
Hush little tighten.
