Hello friend.
Welcome to Authoring Hope.
The Coffee Shop Sessions.
There's something I love about sitting in the familiar atmosphere of a coffee shop.
The quiet conversations,
The background noise.
The warmth of a drink in your hands.
And the feeling that life is moving around you while you take a moment to pause within it.
These sessions are designed to help you sink into that pause and claim it.
And invite you to write a little with a space to reflect,
To breathe,
To journal.
And to reconnect with yourself for a little while.
I'll gently guide you through each session with prompts,
Reflections and writing exercises.
Designed to help you find a little clarity.
Process your thoughts.
And explore what's happening beneath the surface.
And while I loved this idea of a coffee shop.
You really can do this anywhere.
A quiet room at home.
Park bench,
A train journey.
Or a cosy corner of a library.
The important thing is simply this.
You're choosing to pause intentionally.
So wherever you are and whatever's in your cup.
I'm really glad you're here.
Today's journey is called Dream.
To ruminate and ponder.
Find yourself a warm drink and a place to settle.
Let this be a pause from rushing towards answers.
Today is not about fixing your life,
But about listening to it.
This session of dream.
Is an invitation.
To imagine.
Wonder.
Remember and wonder.
Without immediately needing a plan.
Hold your drink for a moment before we begin.
Notice the warmth.
You are allowed to dream slowly.
If it feels comfortable to do so where you are,
Close your eyes for just a minute.
Take a deep breath in.
And exhale slowly.
Deep breath in.
Exhale slowly.
Let the sounds around you become background music rather than distraction.
And let your mind drift gently.
Use full breaths.
And when you feel ready will begin to write.
Our first prompt.
If I could shape you.
An ideal,
Ordinary day.
What would it look like?
How would you wake up?
How would you spend your time?
Who would you be around?
And what might matter less?
For five minutes.
If I could shape you.
An ideal,
Ordinary day.
Would it look like?
As we come to the close of those five minutes.
Finish your sentence or your thought.
Our second prompt.
Again,
For five minutes of writing.
What did I dream about?
Before practicality took over.
You may return to younger versions of yourself.
What fascinated you?
What moved you?
What did you once believe was possible?
We're not critiquing the dream.
We are revisiting it.
For five minutes of writing.
What did I dream about?
Before practicality took over.
As we come to the close of those five minutes,
Finish your words,
Your thought,
Your sentence.
Ready for our third writing prompt.
What kind of life feels meaningful to me now?
Forget comparison,
Forget what sounds impressive.
What feels nourishing,
Sustainable.
True.
What are you actually longing for beneath the noise?
For five minutes of writing.
What kind of life feels meaningful to me now?
Take your time to finish any words or thoughts or ideas.
And you can also take a moment if you want to take a little stretch or a wiggle.
A few lovely sips of your drink.
As we prepare for a deeper dive writing task.
This will be eight minutes.
I invite you for this task,
To write a scene from your future life as though it already exists.
Who might describe a moment.
Where are you?
Can you hear or see or smell?
Who are you becoming?
And what feels different within you.
Write like a novelist,
Observing your future self.
No need to rush.
Let yourself inhabit.
The dream.
For eight minutes,
Write a scene from your future life as though it already exists.
As we come to the end of our eight minutes.
Finish your sentence or thought.
But also know we can take time in closing reflection.
You can read through what you've written.
You can circle ideas or images that really resonated with you.
Words or scenes that meant something.
It doesn't necessarily have to be realistic.
We circle or underline anything that resonates.
Because dreams are not contracts.
Sometimes they are lanterns guiding us home.
Thank you for sharing these moments with me.
I hope this session gave you a little space to pause amidst the familiar hum of life.
A quiet moment to gather your thoughts.
Conjure new ideas.
And let plans gently brew.
Farewell for now.
And until next time.
Keep writing.
Keep reflecting.
And keep authoring hope.
