Transform The Inner Bully

The voice of the internal inner bully inner is often something that isn't authentic to you, it's a voice you have internalized from a parent or authority figure from the past. It is also typically an aspect of you that is often focused on your survival. It can be fearful of change and will do all it can to stop you from growing. Feelings of self-punishment, low worth, Criticism, judgment, doubt, procrastination, fatigue, overthinking, hopelessness, depression, anxiety, and despair are all feelings that will tend to accompany the bully to put a stop to any movement or change. This is a practice to meet and hold space for this part of you and to gently transmute and transform it through compassion, witnessing, and presence. A handy practice when you are ready to make a significant leap forward into the future.

Transcript

To begin,

Place one hand over your heart and the other hand on your belly.

Close your eyes and breathe deeply.

Feel your breath moving your hands gently up and down.

Take a big,

Deep belly breath in and out.

Inhale into your heart now.

Imagine yourself standing in the center of your heart space,

Feeling an iridescent emerald green light that glows all the way around you.

Absorb and drink in this magnificent green,

Resonating into the energy of pure,

Fresh love.

Before you,

You sense now a doorway of light appearing,

Remembering that you're always safe and in control in your inner space.

I invite you now to make your way towards that doorway of light.

Move through to the other side.

As you move into that doorway,

You become aware of a guide waiting for you on the other side.

This is someone or something that will help you to feel really protected and looked after.

Take a moment to recognize and connect with them.

They may be someone you already know or a new yet familiar presence.

You feel that they really have your back in their presence.

You feel totally safe and fully supported.

Your guide invites you now into the sacred environment behind them.

As your awareness engages in this space,

You realize that you've come somewhere very beautiful in nature.

Allow your senses to engage and tune in to what this environment is like.

Notice if it's daytime or nighttime.

Allow your guide to lead you through this space,

Taking you towards an open clearing where you find a circle made of natural objects,

Creating a potent ritual space for transformation.

Your guide walks into the circle and invites you to come inside too.

As you step into the circle,

You feel a powerful energy pulse through you,

Filling you with strength and vitality.

You are fully supported and held here.

It is now time for you to invite in your inner bully to this space.

Your bully is the part of you that doesn't want you to change,

So it does all that it can to sabotage your efforts.

Call in this part of you now.

Call in your bully.

Take a deep breath and remember you are always in control in this space,

Not your bully.

Watch and sense now as it appears within the circle.

Become aware of the form in which it presents.

What does your bully look and feel like?

It may appear as a person,

A cartoon,

An animal,

A symbol,

An energy,

Maybe a colour or something totally different to these things.

Go with what feels right even if you feel like you're making it up.

Your bully may switch and change forms.

It may look like someone you know or a combination of different people.

It may even look like you.

Just be curious now and notice how it's appearing and stand holding space for it to be there.

Realise that while this bully is part of you,

It's not all of you.

Stand in presence.

Feel your guide's support.

You are in control here.

Say hello to your bully.

Hello,

I see you,

I sense you here.

Acknowledge its presence.

Notice if it changes in any way when it feels your presence or if it stays the same.

Just be curious.

When it feels right,

Ask your bully,

How does it feel?

Then allow it to express all it needs to.

Ask your bully,

Why does it not want you to change and make a mental note of its objections.

Listen carefully and stand your ground.

Let it know that you really see and hear all that it feels and believes,

Acknowledging all that it's sharing with you.

See if perhaps you can get a sense from your bully of when it was created,

How long has it been with you for,

That your bully has your full presence and non-judgement.

What does it need from you right now?

Acknowledge that.

Your bully is afraid of you changing.

Perhaps ask it,

What is it truly afraid of?

What does it not want happening?

Your bully is afraid,

It has concerns.

Let it know that you hear all of them.

No wonder it feels the way it does.

You may become aware that your bully has been protecting you,

Serving you in some way.

How has your bully been serving you?

Really acknowledge your bully and all that it has been doing.

From its perspective,

It truly believed it was doing the best by you,

It didn't know any other way.

Be in presence with it now.

You don't need to do anything else other than shine your love,

Attention and presence on it.

What happens when you send love to your bully?

Watch and notice and allow anything that needs to occur and shift to shift.

Be love.

Let your bully know that it no longer has to keep you stuck,

Protecting you in the way that it has been.

Perhaps you can assign your bully a new role.

How can it support and serve you moving forward?

Let it know what you need.

How does it feel about that?

And what might it need from you moving forward to integrate into your life in a more loving and empowering way?

Listen to any concerns or guidance it may have for you.

Is there anything that you need to do moving forward on a day-to-day basis to support this integration?

Acknowledge all that surfaces now.

If it feels right,

Make a commitment to honour anything that has come up as a request.

Does anything else need to occur here in this circle?

Perhaps a symbolic shift to represent the deep transformation and change that has occurred here.

Allow whatever needs to occur to occur now.

How does it feel in this space now?

Take this moment to thank and appreciate your bully and also acknowledge and appreciate your guide.

And then also taking this moment to really thank and appreciate yourself,

Honouring the old identities and ways of being that you're letting go of and acknowledging and nourishing the new life and new patterns being established.

It's now time to leave this sacred circle.

Say goodbye to your bully and guide and perhaps if it feels appropriate,

You can bring them back with you,

But sense what feels best for you now.

Make your way out of the circle and retrace your steps back to your heart space.

Allow your awareness to move back into your heart centre,

Breathing deeply,

Re-engaging and connecting to your physical body,

Allowing your body to ground the spirit of your awareness into the here and now,

Coming back into this time and space,

Noticing as you're fully embodied back in your heart,

That the doorway behind you disappears.

Know you can access it again anytime you need,

When the time is right.

Breathe in and out of the base of your spine,

Ground and anchor.

Back to Mother Earth,

Wiggle your toes,

Gently rock your body from side to side,

Move your hands and arms and give yourself a big hug,

Embrace yourself,

Acknowledging all of you and your magnificence and when you're ready,

Open your eyes.

It’s an interesting meditation I saw a very old version or many of me come up, I will revisit it as it seems to have a shadow element as well

That was really powerful. My bully was a giant at the start and is now the same size as me and she’s so much calmer. Will be using this again!
