This guided meditation will help ground and center you using the calming sounds of running water, bird song, and singing bowls. Remember the last time you got a static electricity shock when you touched an object. Due to the modern, rubber-based, or non-grounding materials, we wear on our feet, more and more we are losing our connection to the earth. As our negative energy builds up, it has nowhere to escape to, so this simple exercise can be an effective part of your physical and mental well-being.

Hello,

My name is Sam and welcome to this meditation to help you become more grounded.

If at all possible,

Try this session outside on the earth,

Then you'll experience even more benefit.

Otherwise,

Sit as close to the earth that your space allows you to and remove your socks if comfortable.

Ideally,

We want some of our bare skin to be in touch with the earth as this acts as our grounding pin,

Just like the third pin in a pluck.

It allows us to discharge excess energy back into the ground.

Modern shoes we wear made with rubber have prevented many of us from grounding,

Resulting in a type of short circuiting in our body's electrical systems,

Which results in physical,

Emotional and mental disorders.

Connecting to the earth grounds us,

Rebalancing our electrical system.

Some of the signs of being ungrounded are getting distracted easily,

Overthinking,

Feeling anxious or over worrying,

Not sleeping well,

Fatigue and general tiredness,

Poor circulation and chronic pain,

Just to name a few.

A lot of our stress and anxiety today comes from being disconnected to our bodies.

So let's get earthed and rooted back into our body right now.

Feel free to sit or lie down,

Or you can of course sit in a chair if that's better for you.

Just make sure your bare feet are in touch with the ground or the floor.

Start to relax your body,

Letting go through the legs and shoulders.

Surrender the body's weight into the earth.

You might even think that the earth is rising up to meet your body and support it.

Take a mental scan of your body and find muscles or tissue that's contracted or active when it doesn't need to be.

Release any unnecessary tension.

Relax through your face and jaw and feel your scalp release as you let go of the tightness around your head.

Become aware of the solidity of the ground beneath you and feel the comforting sense of its support,

Its sturdiness and strength.

You can let your body sink down further as the ground will hold you.

Take a slow,

Deep breath in through the nose if possible and let the breath go.

Feel your body relax a little more as you exhale.

Do that once more,

A full breath in and a slow breath out.

Let go.

For the next few breaths,

If it feels comfortable to do so,

Place one hand gently on the top of your head.

As you breathe out,

Feel the comforting sensation of your hand on the head.

You can imagine it's directing your energy downward to the base of the spine and down through to the feet and into the earth.

There's no need to physically push,

Just feel the gentle pressure of the palm on the head.

After your next breath,

Replace your hand back down by your side and make your arm comfortable.

Bring your attention to the parts of the body that's connecting you to the ground,

Whether that's your feet,

The heels,

The back of your legs,

Buttocks and so on.

Picture in your mind the excess electricity finding its way out of your body and down into the earth via these touch points,

Draining out of the body,

Leaving your body feeling less frazzled and tense.

At the same time,

The ground is drawing the negative energy from you and replenishing your body with renewed earth energy.

Let this energy seep into your pores and absorb all of the healing power that the earth offers.

As this process takes place,

Allow your breath to be natural and uncontrolled,

Breathing in and out of the nose if that feels accessible to you.

See,

Imagine or feel any energetic imbalances within you being moved down and out through your body directly into the earth to be recycled.

Allow yourself to feel the qualities of the earth.

What do you most need to draw upon at this time?

Its permanence,

Its reliability,

Safety,

Security.

You might think to yourself,

I am safe.

I am stable.

The earth supports me.

You are safe.

You are stable.

The earth supports you.

Feel the sense of calm you have as you ground your energy using the earth element.

Earth's qualities are that of stability,

Structure,

Foundation and consistency.

When we can direct our energy to connect with the earth element,

It helps us to anchor into the qualities and characteristics of this element within ourselves.

Cast your mind back to the last time you got a static electricity shock when you touched something metal.

This was a discharge of stored up energy in your body that was escaping to the ground the quickest way possible.

Due to our modern rubber based or non-grounding shoes that we wear on our feet,

More and more we are losing our connection to the earth.

As our negative energy builds up,

It has nowhere to escape to.

So this simple exercise can be an effective part of your physical and mental wellbeing.

Enjoy this feeling of stability and anchoring for a few moments more.

When you feel ready to do so,

Bring some gentle movement to your hands and feet and start the process of reawakening.

Allow your body to guide you through this process,

Following your instinct and doing what feels right.

In your own time,

Open your eyes and take a moment to establish yourself.

Hold on to that feeling of anchoring,

That connection to the earth and try to carry this through the rest of your day with you.

Thank you for taking the time to do this meditation with me.

I wish you all the best.

That was great. Made me want to go for a walk with no shoes on.
