Hello and welcome to this easy guided meditation on gratitude for the small things.
I'm Sammy Swain and I'm looking forward to guiding you through this.
So if you haven't already,
Find a comfortable position,
Sitting or lying down.
Gently close your eyes down and let's begin by taking a few slow,
Deep breaths.
Inhale deeply through your nose,
Feeling the air fill your lungs with life.
And exhale slowly,
Letting go of any tension and letting go of the day so far.
Take a couple more deep breaths like this,
Deep into the belly.
Allowing yourself to become fully grounded in this moment.
Feeling the rhythm of your breath as it flows in and out.
Steady and peaceful.
And we'll begin by turning our attention to the simple things that fill your day.
And I invite you to notice something small and comforting that often goes unnoticed.
Perhaps the warmth of your hands as you wrap them around a mug of tea or coffee.
It could be the softness of your pillow as you lay your head down at night.
It could be how a furry friend looks at you with loving,
Adoring eyes.
Or it could be simply the gentle hum of a quiet room.
What comes up for you when thinking about the simple things that we can be grateful for?
Take a deep breath in and as you do,
Feel your gratitude rise for these little treasures.
These moments may be small,
But they are deeply nourishing.
They offer you comfort,
Rest,
Rejuvenation and peace without asking for anything in return.
Feeling the warmth of these small,
Comforting moments.
Picture for a moment and I'd like you to visualize the simple pleasure of having a cozy blanket wrapped around your body on a chilly evening.
Notice how the fabric feels against your skin,
Soft,
Light,
Heavy and gentle.
The weight of the blanket is comforting,
Like a quiet embrace,
Like a warm hug from a friend,
Holding you in a space of peace and relaxation.
Breathing deeply and feel your body soften.
Allow the warmth of the blanket and of that moment to wash over you.
Now I invite you to think of a moment of stillness,
A quiet cup of tea or coffee in the morning,
Your morning shower,
A few minutes of peace before the day begins.
It could be the softness of your favorite chair in your house and as you sit down you feel its embrace.
These moments of calm are treasures.
They are the space where you can reconnect,
Breathe and find stillness amid the busyness of life.
As you take a deep breath in through the nose,
Let the gratitude for these quiet moments of stillness fill your heart.
Allow them to remind you to slow down,
To appreciate the little things and to really savor the simplicity of life.
Let's take a moment to appreciate the things that we often overlook.
Perhaps the feel of your favorite socks warming your feet as you slip them on,
The first sip of cold water on a steamy hot day.
Or simply the comfort of your breath as it flows in and out effortlessly,
Nourishing your entire body and the millions and millions of cells that you have.
These small joys are the little threads that weave your day together,
Offering you tiny moments of delight and joy,
Warmth,
Comfort and a sense of ease.
We are so lucky to have them.
As you inhale,
Breathe deeply and as you exhale,
Feel the gratitude you have for these small moments,
These simple moments.
They are truly gifts just as important as the big moments in our lives.
Now returning your awareness to your body,
Feeling grounded in this moment,
Filled with appreciation for the simple things around you.
There's truly no need for anything grand.
The simple everyday moments are enough.
They hold so much beauty in their softness,
In their simplicity.
Inhale deeply,
Filling your heart with gratitude for all the small things that nourish your spirit.
And exhale,
Letting that gratitude settle gently within you.
Take a final deep breath in,
Carrying with you a sense of calm and warmth for the small things that fill your life.
And take a slow breath out,
Feeling gratitude for this time that you've spent reflecting on the little nuggets of gold that we have surrounding us all of the time.
And when you're ready,
You can invite some movement back into your toes and fingers,
To the awareness around the space that you're in.
Gently open your eyes,
And I hope that you enjoy carrying this gratitude with you,
Noticing and appreciating the simple moments as you move throughout your day.
