So this everyday mindfulness technique is exactly what it says on the tin.
We're going to connect to all five senses in the moment.
So that is five things you can see.
Just look around your space if you've got a window and look out of it even better.
Four things you can hear.
Explore the sounds both far away and near and anything you might not normally notice like the wherever of computers or things that are more obvious like chatter are great.
Three things you can touch.
This might be actively reaching out and touching things in front of you or it might just be the physical sense of clothing.
Two things that you can smell.
So this could be your aftershave or perfume,
Something close or it could be something further afield like burnt toast.
And one thing you can taste.
Again,
Your morning coffee,
Your sandwich at lunchtime.
It doesn't matter if it's nothing at all.
It's about exploring all five senses that's going to bring you back to the present moment.
And that is the art of this technique.
Just remember like all everyday mindfulness techniques,
This can be done anywhere at any time just to help bring you back to the present moment.
And as your mind wanders,
Which it naturally will do,
Remember that each time you come back to the technique,
That's a mental sit-up.
That is you bringing more mindfulness and more practice into your awareness,
Which means you will get stronger and stronger just as if you were doing sit-ups at the gym.
Thank you so much.
