Hello and welcome to this meditation to calm your mind by dropping into your body.
This is one of my favourite techniques to do with clients at the beginning of sessions,
Just to help them to become present,
To leave their to-do list and problems behind,
So they can focus on what they really need during the session.
So join me now by finding a comfortable place where you can sit for a moment or two.
And take a couple of deep breaths in your own time.
Now that you've done that I want you to take your attention to your toes.
What sensations can you feel there?
Are they really comfortable?
Are they comfortable?
Are they comfortable?
And then you can take a few breaths in your own time.
Now that you've done that I want you to take your attention to your toes.
What sensations can you feel there?
Are they warm or cold?
Is there any tingling or pulsing?
Is the floor beneath them rough or smooth?
Just explore the sensations in your toes.
Now move up from your toes.
Into your ankles,
Chins and calves.
Exploring any sensations there.
Through your knees and thighs.
Just observing.
Into your hips,
Are they tight,
Loose,
Warm,
Tingly?
No judgement,
Just allow your mind to explore what's going on in your body.
Up through your lower back and abdomen.
Mid back,
Chest and upper back.
Explore the sensations in your torso.
Can you feel your heart beating?
Movement of your breath.
Now explore into your shoulders and down your arms.
All the way to your fingertips.
What's happening there?
Which sensations can you name without judgement?
Back up through your arms and shoulders,
Into your neck.
Does it feel long or short?
Loose or tight?
Into your jaw,
Allowing it to relax as you explore whatever sensations are there.
Mouth,
Teeth,
Nose,
Eyes.
The space between your eyes,
Your forehead.
Explore any sensations that you can feel in your face and through your scalp.
Now let your mind wander and explore the whole body.
What sensations can you feel in your whole body?
Wonderful.
Now take a couple of deep breaths in through the nose and out through the nose.
Allowing yourself to become present to the sounds in the room around you.
Wiggling your fingers and toes.
Stretching your arms,
Moving your neck,
Whatever feels good for your body right now,
Allow it to be.
And then when you're ready,
Open your eyes and have a wonderful day.
