This technique is one of my favourites to practise on a commute when you can take in those around you and find ways to silently compliment them. Naturally, this technique helps to counteract our negativity bias which means it's often easier to do when we are feeling calm & relaxed (ventral vagal state) but you can of course do it at any time. Welcome.

Get yourself nice and comfortable and begin with some centering breaths.

So just bringing your attention to your breath,

Taking a nice deep inhale through the nose and releasing gently through the nose.

Taking your time to do another couple.

In and out through the nose just allowing ourselves to center and become present in this moment.

Beautiful.

Now I want you to bring to mind someone that's either nearby or that you've crossed paths with today.

And I want you to silently send them a compliment.

It might be the clothes they've chosen to wear that day.

It might be the beaming smile on their face.

Perhaps it's something they did to help you out or the kindness you saw that they gave to others.

Just silently send out that compliment.

Now bring to mind another person.

This can be fun to do when you're commuting and you're on a train or a bus looking around complimenting those around you.

Or perhaps you're in the office and you're looking around at your colleagues just complimenting them silently,

Dropping some little love bombs on them.

And just go at your own pace,

Bring to mind different people,

Send a compliment,

Move on to the next person.

And then lastly I want you to bring to mind yourself.

And I want you to give yourself a compliment.

Perhaps it's something you're proud of yourself for.

Perhaps it's something you did that's just part of your nature but helped someone else out.

Perhaps it's just for being here today and doing some love bombs with me.

Just compliment yourself and if two or three come up that's beautiful.

Send yourself all of those compliments.

Fantastic.

I love this practice as it gives us a chance to connect with the people around us without actually engaging with them.

It's a form of gratitude,

It's a way of counteracting our negativity bias and it's something you can do really simply throughout your day.
