Hello.
Thank you so much for joining me for this simple practice.
Today we're going to be using our sense of sound in order to ground us in the present moment because present moment is where safety is and safety helps our nervous system to settle and move back up to healthy parasympathetic or relaxed and calm and connected where we want to be.
So get yourself comfortable wherever that might be in this moment in time.
Remember you can do this sitting,
Standing,
Lying down,
Walking and just slowly start to tune in to the sounds around you.
What is the sound that is closest to you right now?
Can you label that?
How about furthest away?
What's one sound that you can hear inside of yourself?
How about outside of yourself?
Don't worry if your mind gets distracted and wants to tell you stories about the sounds.
That's normal.
Just bring it back to labeling whatever sound you can hear in this moment.
Be it near,
Far,
Loud or quiet.
Just keep labeling the sounds without attachment knowing that every time your brain gets distracted and you bring it back to labeling a new sound you're doing a mindfulness sit-up.
Each mindfulness sit-up helps you to ground your nervous system and bring a little less stress into your life.
Near,
Far,
Loud,
Soft,
Internal,
External.
There are sounds all around us.
Keep listening out.
Keep labeling just for a moment longer.
Fantastic.
Well done you.
I hope this simple practice has helped you to settle into your nervous system today and find a little bit more peace and space.
If you have any questions feel free to reach out to me on the app and I hope to see you here again soon.
Take care.
