Hello,
This is Brenda Cary of Sacred Path Healing.
One of my favorite practices to do outdoors is combining a walking meditation while listening to a traditional Navajo prayer and earthing.
And if you're not familiar with earthing,
I would encourage you to take off your socks and your shoes and get outside,
Whether that is on the grass or on dirt or sand.
And if you're not able to be outside,
I still would encourage you to take off your socks and shoes and just be in your bare feet for this walking meditation practice.
Earthing is such a powerful way to harmonize and stabilize the body's basic biological rhythms.
It can reduce inflammation,
Reduce fatigue,
And just help you feel more grounded by bringing in the earth's free electrons into your body through the soles of your feet.
So once you have the soles of your feet,
Either outdoors on the earth or inside,
I encourage you to stand tall,
Maybe pick up the toes and spread them and set them back down,
Remembering that you are connected to Mother Earth.
And before beginning a slow intentional walk,
I would encourage you to look around you slowly,
Deliberately,
Without any labeling or judging,
Just noticing.
And then close the eyes down just for a moment and either just listen or feel any sensations on the surface of your skin.
Become fully immersed in this whole body experience.
Now you can choose to stay standing with the eyes closed or open your eyes with a soft gaze and ever so slowly begin to walk one step at a time and really notice the soles of your feet connected down into the earth or the floor and allow this traditional Navajo prayer to wash over you called Walk in Beauty.
I walk with beauty before me.
I walk with beauty behind me.
I walk with beauty below me.
I walk with beauty above me.
I walk with beauty all around me.
My words will be beautiful.
In beauty all day long may I walk.
Through the returning seasons may I walk.
On the trail marked with pollen may I walk.
With dew about my feet may I walk.
With beauty before me may I walk.
With beauty behind me may I walk.
With beauty below me may I walk.
With beauty above me may I walk.
With beauty all around me may I walk.
In old age wandering on a trail of beauty may I walk.
In old age wandering on a trail of beauty may I walk.
My words will be beautiful.
I walk with beauty before me.
I walk with beauty behind me.
I walk with beauty below me.
I walk with beauty above me.
I walk with beauty all around me.
My words are beautiful.
Pause for a moment wherever you are noticing the beauty all around you.
Placing one or both hands on your heart and also acknowledging the beauty within you.
May you continue to walk in beauty for the rest of your day.
Namaste.
