Creating some distance from a difficult emotion can help us process it more easily. Let it move from inside your body to the palm of your hand. Observe it from this perspective. Without judgment or the desire to change it. The temperature, shape, color of it. Just noticing Notice now, the emotion in your body. Has something shifted? Just noticing.

Notice the emotion in your body.

The uncomfortable emotion.

Where is it in your body?

On your exhale,

Let it move from that spot.

Down your arm,

Landing in the palm of your hand.

And that emotion there in the palm of your hand,

What does it look like?

What does it feel like?

Is it warm,

Dry,

Mushy,

Yucky,

Wet,

Big?

Does it feel like a rock or a sponge?

What does it look like?

What does it feel like?

Just noticing.

And as you notice,

Let it be there.

Let your hand hold it.

Now go back and notice in your body where it was.

That space it used to be.

What does that space feel like now?

Has it shifted?

Changed?

Does it feel softer?

Creating some distance in the palm of your hand might have allowed it to soften and open.

So just breathing into this feeling now.

Soft.

Open.

Soft.

Open.

Soft.
