The second key is to learn to express yourself.
Hello and welcome back to the five essential keys to ending emotional eating.
This is Ruthie Cohen-joiner at yourtappingjourney.
Com.
Today we are looking at the second key,
Express yourself.
As I stated on our first recording,
Finding you,
The real you,
The spiritual essence of you,
And what really lights you up,
Are vital for your growth and happiness.
Too many of us have been shut down by our families,
Our culture,
And,
And or our lack of self-esteem,
Self-worth,
And self-love.
So what is your thing?
You may have many ways of expressing yourself that allow you to forget all about time and your worries and you just get into the zone totally in the flow.
Or maybe you haven't found your thing yet.
Is it creating a lovely space,
Drawing,
Dancing,
Singing,
Writing,
Painting,
Sculpting,
Yoga,
Or other fun ways of moving,
Cooking amazing meals?
The list is endless.
Finding what really sets you on fire and connects you to your understanding of divinity through doing what you love gives you energy.
It puts you in a higher vibration zone.
It is essentially giving the gift of you to yourself and to the world.
But what if you don't know what it is for you?
Or what if you were made fun of when you danced or spoke up as a child?
Many of us just learn to be quiet and comply,
To get by,
And to be safe.
So today we're going to do a couple rounds of EFT tapping to release some of that stuckness or shut downness and open up to our true selves.
If you need a review of how to tap,
You can go to my website,
Yourtappingjourney.
Com and go to the What is EFT page or to my YouTube channel at Ruthie Cohen Joiner to find this short three minute video.
So for now,
I'm going to assume you know the basics and we'll get started doing tapping after I just do a quick review of the tapping points that we are going to use.
So generally we start by tapping on the side of the hand right under the pinky and do what's called a setup phrase.
And then we go around the point.
So we go to the eyebrow point.
The next point is the side of the eye under the eye,
Under the nose.
The chin point is between the lip and the chin,
And our next point is called the collarbone,
Where you find your collarbone and go down an inch and out an inch toward the shoulder.
And then the next point is called the underarm point,
And it's about four inches down below the underarm or about the bottom of the bra line.
And our last point is the top of the head where you tap on the crown of the head.
We generally use four fingers to tap on the side of the hand and two for the other points.
So tap along and repeat after me.
So we're going to go to the side of the hand and repeating after me.
Even though I wasn't allowed to shine as a kid,
Or I felt judged when I tried,
Today I'm choosing to acknowledge my inner child and give her a big hug.
Even though I've never really explored what really lights me up,
Because I'm afraid of being made fun of.
So even though I haven't tried in the past,
Today I'm open to trying something new.
And now let's go to the eyebrow point.
Maybe I was made fun of.
Side of the eye.
Maybe I feel like my ways of expressing myself aren't good enough.
Under the eye.
Maybe I don't have a clue what I really like to do.
Under the nose.
Maybe there's lots of reasons why I'm scared to shine.
I'm scared to shine.
Chin.
Maybe I'm even scared to try.
Collarbone.
I don't want to be laughed at.
Under the arm.
It's easier to not even try.
Top of the head.
Is that really true?
Back to the eyebrow.
What if I did try some new things?
Side of the eye.
What if I could just play?
Under the eye.
What if I could just let it be fun?
Under the nose.
I'm going to try.
Chin.
I'm going to play.
Collarbone.
I get to dance like nobody's watching.
Under the arm.
I'm choosing to try lots of new things.
Top of the head.
And I'm so grateful that I get to play and try today.
Now stop.
Tapping and just notice how you feel.
Were you able to tune into the little you inside and give them some love and support?
Were you able to tune into the little you inside and give them some love and support?
And are you able to be open to trying something new?
Or if you already have your thing,
Paint,
Painting,
Writing,
Or whatever it is,
Are you willing to share it?
To be seen,
To be heard?
This is just one of the skills that will help you feel more fulfilled and to be able to be more you,
To embrace who you truly are.
I hope you'll give yourself a chance to really try expressing yourself in a new and fun way.
On our next recording,
We'll be playing with assertiveness and truth telling.
Thank you so much for joining me.
Namaste.
