Beginning shortly,
I will guide you through a visualization of your future self.
In Health and Wellness Coaching,
We find this to be a powerful tool in establishing a vision of where you would like to go in life,
In your career,
In your health,
And in your well-being.
Guided visualizations are a gentle way to stimulate your imagination,
To create a clear vision for yourself.
If it resonates with you,
I would encourage you to keep a piece of paper and something to write with close by for you to write down this vision or any key points once we are completed.
Now,
When you are ready,
Find a comfortable position sitting up or perhaps laying down,
One where you can feel calm and undistracted.
Once you have found this comfortable position,
Gently close your eyes.
Feel where your body connects to the seat below you and begin to bring intention into your breath.
Slowly,
Inhale deeply,
Pause at the top,
And open your mouth to sigh out your breath.
Do this two more times at your own pace.
Find a natural breath,
Closing your mouth and breathing in and out through your nose.
Feel the sensations in your body,
The energy from your breath.
You may have thoughts come up,
And that is okay.
Let these thoughts come and go at their own pace before coming back to your breath.
You are meant to be here in this moment.
You can allow your full presence into this experience.
I invite you to imagine yourself traveling into the future.
You can choose the time frame,
1 to 5 to 10 to 20 years.
Focus in on one time frame.
Then begin to imagine your transportation to the future.
It may be on a horse or a special train.
It could be on a magic carpet or maybe in a time capsule.
Choose any form of transportation that calls out to you and allow yourself to feel safe on this ride into the future.
You are traveling in time and space to the most optimal place that you can possibly conceive of.
Now you find yourself arriving in this new place and time.
Notice the surroundings where you've landed.
Notice the geography.
What do you see when you look out there?
What is present?
Then you notice a cozy cottage.
This is the location of your future self,
The most desirable version of you that you can imagine.
I invite you to approach the space knowing that your future self is in on the other side of the door.
But first,
You notice that to the side of the door there is a basket,
A very special basket.
You can leave any aspects of you or your current life that you no longer want to carry with you in this basket.
If you change your mind later on,
You can always retrieve anything you left in the basket.
Now knock on the door to let them know that you have come.
They open the door and you greet each other.
You see your wise future self.
Notice their appearance.
Feel their energy and especially their essence.
Is there a name?
Not necessarily a literal or real name,
But more like a metaphor or a symbol of their essence that you'd like to give them?
A name,
Their name that you can bring back home with you to help you remember?
Find a place for a comfortable conversation.
Perhaps they offer you a drink and then you sit down together for a chat.
I invite you to ask them how they got to this optimal,
Internal place.
Listen to what they have to say.
Given the way they know you,
What do they tell you about what you most need to remember to get from where you are now to where they are?
What advice do they have for you?
You might ask them,
What stands out most in your memory,
Future self?
What words of wisdom do you have for me?
What lessons have you learned?
What do I need to know so that I can become optimal me like you?
Then feel free to ask them any questions that you may have.
Then you thank your future self for spending this time together.
Bid them farewell for now,
Knowing that you can communicate with them whenever you wish.
Take in the surroundings once again before you prepare to leave.
Find the transportation that you arrived here on and allow it to bring you back to the current time and space.
Begin to travel back to yourself at this moment in time.
I am going to count from three to one for you to return comfortably.
Three,
Feel your body and where it meets the earth below you.
Two,
Bring your awareness back to your breath and notice the sensations arising in your body.
One,
When you're ready,
Gently allow your eyes to open.
Take a moment to reflect on everything you just learned about yourself.
Where do you need to let go in order to reach your optimal future self?
Are there habits,
Thought patterns,
People,
Or things that you must leave behind?
What is present in your optimal self that you can bring intention to moving forward?
