Hello,
And welcome to your meditation practice.
Today we will be focusing our time on the Mooladhara chakra,
Also known as the root chakra.
This is the first of the seven main chakras that you may be aware of,
And it's located at the base of your spine.
It's associated with the color red,
With a four petal lotus,
And with the element of earth.
It deals with connection with our physical body and with the physical world around us.
It influences our sense of safety,
Stability,
Trust,
And self-preservation.
It gives us a sense of groundedness.
If it's blocked,
It can also disrupt the entire chakra system because it is the foundation and the roots of the system.
So go ahead and find a comfortable seated position that you would like to spend in your meditation.
Your legs can be crossed or out in front of you.
Maybe if your legs are out in front of you,
You have a way to support your back,
Maybe with a wall or the back of a chair.
Just find what feels comfortable in your body at this moment.
Gently close your eyes or soften your gaze downward,
And begin to bring intention into your breath.
Slowly filling your lungs on your inhale,
And on your exhale,
Releasing into this space.
Breathing in and breathing out.
Take a few rounds of deep breaths on your own,
Noticing in that space where one breath ends and the other begins.
Wherever you are,
Feel where your body is connected to the surface below you.
Feel your legs and seat grounded as you imagine a soft beam of light that is traveling from the base of your spine gradually up your spine until it reaches the top of your head,
Finding a posture that is both dignified and kind.
On your next inhale,
Fill every cell in your body with love,
And on your exhale,
Feel your weight melt into the earth below you.
Breathing in and breathing out.
Begin to visualize a red ball of light and energy that is forming at the base of your spine where your seat connects with the earth.
With your breath,
Bring life into this ball of grounded energy,
Feeling it grow with each round of breath.
Your breath is giving it life,
Giving it power,
Giving it strength.
This is your root chakra.
This is your connection of your physical body to the physical earth.
Feel how this wheel of energy connects you to the earth that supports you.
Feel how it grounds into your body with your breath and your body in this space,
Allowing yourself to feel grounded,
Supported,
And safe.
Using your breath to harness this energy,
Into your root chakra,
Where this red ball of energy of light is manifested in yourself,
In your root chakra.
On your next inhale,
Breathe in the safety and strength embodied from your root chakra.
And on your exhale,
Imagine this red light radiating throughout your entire body.
Feel the strength that you are made of.
As I begin to share some affirmations,
Feel free to repeat these affirmations to yourself silently or quietly,
And feel the divine connection from your words to your physical and spiritual self.
I am safe and grounded.
The earth supports me and meets my needs.
I am home in my body.
I am worthy of love and care.
Again,
Repeat the affirmations and allow the words to sink into your body.
I am safe and grounded.
The earth supports me and meets my needs.
I am home in my body.
I am worthy of love and care.
Now take a deep breath in and open your mouth.
Sigh it out.
Again,
Take a deep breath in,
Fill your lungs,
And sigh it out.
Really bring your awareness back into your body,
Into your physical self.
And bring your hands to meet and heart center in a prayer or Anjali Mudra.
Now begin to rub your palms together quickly,
Generating heat and building energy.
And when you're ready,
Bring one hand to the ground and one hand to your heart as we close this meditation,
Connecting the energy from our heart to the earth,
Rooted and grounded in our bodies and in this moment.
Namaste.
