Join me as we allow our parasympathetic nervous system to activate a state of rest & inner calm. We focus on our breath through pranayama. Prana (life force- energy) ayama (control or regulate). Our breath is the life force energy and through the technique of Sama Vritti, we consciously balance & equalize the breath. This type of pranayama will help renew energy as we embrace peacefulness and inner calm. I include soothing music by Christopher Lloyd Clarke. Namaste

Hello,

My friends.

Thank you for joining me today for this guided meditation focused on our breath.

Breathing occurs so naturally to us.

It truly is a miracle beginning at the time of our birth.

Let's find time throughout your day to pause and focus on your breath.

This guided meditation is pranayama.

Prana is your life force energy which is your breath.

In the course of your day,

Our energy level could get depleted or drained.

There's daily activities that may cause various intensities of stress that we may feel in our body.

As we take time to stop,

Pause,

And go inward focusing on our breath,

This is a time for your parasympathetic nervous system in your body to guide your body to a state of rest and relaxation.

Pranayama.

Let's pause and regain some of that inner life force energy regulating your breath.

The pranayama practice today is sama vritti which is basically focusing on equal breath,

Inhaling and exhaling with equal counts.

To begin,

Find a safe space for you to practice your breathing this pranayama called sama vritti.

In this safe space,

You could be seated,

You could be laying down,

Or even standing.

If you're standing,

I invite you to find a wall that you can stand in front of so that wall will support you.

If you're comfortable closing your eyes,

Gently close those outer eyes and draw attention to your current normal breathing pattern.

Don't force any breathing right now,

Just draw attention to this current pattern.

How long your inhales and exhales,

How long are they taking you now.

On the inhale,

You're expanding your lungs to the fullest as you focus on this equaling out your breath sama vritti.

On the inhale,

Deepen that breath,

Expand your lungs.

Sit up tall if you're seated or standing.

Open your heart.

As you're gaining more awareness to your breathing,

What sensations do you feel?

Are your lips gently pursed?

Breathing in and out through your nose.

Soften your face.

Maybe visualize the air now moving through your nose,

Filling your lungs,

Expanding your ribs,

And exhaling through your nose.

Perhaps you start a count so that you can equalize your inhale and exhale.

I'll use a count of four to guide you.

You can use any count that speaks to you and your body.

Inhale slowly.

One,

Two.

Exhale.

Four,

Three.

Inhale.

One,

Two,

Three,

Four.

Exhale.

Four,

Three,

Two,

One.

Continue at your own pace equalizing your inhalation and exhalation.

Continue if you want to stay in this state of calmness.

If you're ready to return to your day,

Take a deep cleansing breath.

Look at your eyes open if they were closed.

And I thank you for connecting our inner light today.

Namaste.
