Welcome to day six of mental floss.
Today is all about focus.
So find a place,
Take a moment where you can sit or lay down calm and comfortable,
Safe and sound.
Have a shuffle around,
Take a few nice long slow deep breaths as your eyes comfortably closed down.
Now take a deep breath,
Even deeper than before and sigh that breath out.
Breathe in and release it with a sigh of relief.
This is your time.
Nowhere to go,
Nothing to do now,
No one to please,
No one to satisfy.
There's nothing to worry about in this peaceful relaxed moment.
Allow yourself to enjoy this moment.
As you breathe and release any pain,
Any tightness,
Any tension,
Any stress you may be carrying.
Just release with every breath out and breathe in and notice your thoughts.
Notice how your thoughts can flow through your mind.
Observe them as if your thoughts become leaves on a quiet river floating downstream.
Observe those thoughts without interacting,
Without focusing,
Without becoming involved in them,
Just watching them drift and float.
Notice how you can notice the contents of these thoughts as a bystander,
As an observer,
Just watching as those thoughts float on by.
Breathing in and a sigh of relief and if your mind strays onto one thought for too long,
Gently guide it back to the side of the river once again and allow the thoughts to flow smoothly.
Thinking a thought is fine,
Noticing a thought is fine.
There's nothing wrong with thinking and now you can understand that you can observe your thoughts,
You can question them without reacting to them,
Just allowing them to flow like leaves on a river flowing through your mind and gently open your eyes.
