Soft words for sleep.
With a serene sigh.
I choose to let the soft symphony of my brainwaves carry me into a mystical journey in preparation for this restful sleep.
As the beta waves,
With their lively tempo,
Gradually slow,
I find myself stepping into an enchanted forest.
The air is filled with a tranquil melody.
The kind only alpha waves within my brain can be produced,
Soothing and calming every cell of my being.
The sound of this forest is activating my alpha brainwaves.
The sound of the rain within this forest is activating my alpha brainwaves.
In this mystical forest,
The trees whisper ancient secrets,
And the gentle rustling of leaves is like a lullaby inviting me to explore further.
As I walk deeper into the forest,
The rhythm of my brainwaves slows even more,
Transitioning into the profound and creative theta waves.
This space around me is activating my theta brainwaves.
This space within me is activating my theta brainwaves.
I find myself at the very edge of a serene,
Bright turquoise,
Shimmering lake.
The water is warm.
As I choose to float effortlessly within it.
I am surrounded by the rhythmic rise and fall of theta waves emanating from this turquoise water.
My mind feels light and free.
A realm where dreams and reality intertwine.
As I am now fully submerged within this water.
Down.
Left.
Right.
And by magic,
I am breathing.
This is a miracle.
I am floating effortlessly with this turquoise energy surrounding me.
I am fully connected to this feeling of ease and love that surrounds me.
Deeper and deeper I drift.
The symphony of brainwaves guiding me.
The forest and the lake fade away.
This turquoise energy.
And now I find myself enveloped in the deep,
Restorative embrace of delta brainwaves.
In this space,
Time stands still.
I am surrounded by a turquoise ethereal glow.
A reminder of the incredible healing power of delta waves.
Here,
Every cell in my body.
Is rejuvenated.
Every thought in my mind is cleared.
I am at peace.
I am stillness and space.
I am floating effortlessly with this turquoise,
Ethereal glow of energy that surrounds me.
I am fully connected to this feeling of ease and love that surrounds me.
As the symphony plays on,
I feel the gentle touch of delta waves working their magic.
My body repairs and strengthens itself.
Preparing for the magic within my soul.
My mind is aligned.
Calm.
Still.
And I am basking in restoration and ease.
I am floating effortlessly inside this space within me.
I am fully connected to this feeling of ease and love that surrounds me.
In the morning,
When the first light of dawn gently awakens me,
I choose to carry with me the memory of this mystical experience.
The symphony of my brainwaves will play on.
Guiding me through another day.
And when night falls again,
I choose to find myself once more in this enchanted forest.
At the edge of this turquoise light.
And I will be ready once again to be carried away on the waves of relaxation and sleep.
For now.
I embrace.
The new day.
With a heart full of gratitude.
And the mind refreshed.
Knowing that the symphony of brainwaves will always be there.
A constant guide.
Once again to be carried away on the waves of relaxation and sleep.
My mystical forest.
In the quiet moments before sleep,
The mind often wanders through the day's events.
Replaying conversations,
Decisions and experiences.
Yet,
Nestled within the intricate workings of the brain,
A delicate dance unfolds,
Leading us from the waking world to the realm of dreams.
This dance is orchestrated by brainwaves,
Those tiny electrical impulses that guide our thoughts,
Feelings and states of consciousness.
Welcome to soft words for sleep.
As you lie in bed.
Taking a moment to notice how your body breathes.
Imagine your brain as a symphony orchestra,
Each section playing its unique part in perfect harmony.
The day begins.
With a brisk,
Lively tempo of beta waves.
These dominate when we wake and get engaged in activities that require thinking,
Problem-solving and decision-making.
Beta waves,
With their fast frequency,
Help us stay alert and focused.
They are the musical notes of our daily life.
Driving our productivity.
And keeping us grounded in reality.
But as evening approaches and the day winds down.
The symphony within our heads begins to shift.
The conductor lowers the baton.
And the fast pace of beta waves give way to the slower,
More rhythmic alpha waves.
These waves emerge when we are relaxed,
But still awake.
Often during moments of quiet reflection.
Gentle daydreaming.
Alpha waves are the lullaby of the brain.
Soothing us with their calming rhythm and preparing us for the transition into a restful night's sleep.
As you continue to notice your body breathing at its own rate and rhythm.
Imagine the gentle ebb and flow of alpha waves.
Washing over your mind.
Like the soft lapping of waves on a tranquil shore.
Your body begins to relax.
Tension and resistance melting away.
This is the science of relaxation in action.
Where the shift from beta to alpha brainwaves release the day's stress and enter a state of restful calm.
I choose.
To soften.
I choose to melt.
I choose.
To release.
I choose.
A restful night's sleep.
But the journey does not end here.
As you drift closer to sleep,
The symphony transforms once more.
Theta waves,
Slower and more profound than alpha waves,
Begin to take the lead.
Theta waves are often associated with the first stages of sleep.
As well as deep meditation and creative flow.
They are the doorway to the subconscious,
A realm where all things can be possible.
A realm where thoughts and images flow freely and dreams begin to take shape.
As you imagine yourself floating in a gentle,
Warm sea.
A turquoise color.
A turquoise blue.
Buoyed by the rhythmic rise and fall of theta waves.
Your mind feels light and unburdened,
Free to explore the depths of imagination and memory.
This state of mind is deeply restorative.
Allowing the brain to process feelings,
Consolidate memories.
And rejuvenate itself for the day ahead.
I choose to float.
In a gentle turquoise ocean.
Surrounding me.
Within me.
I choose to explore.
The depths of imagination.
Where all good things take place.
I choose to restore my body.
Rejuvenating myself.
As I drift.
A why.
A why,
A why,
A why,
A why.
As you sink deeper into sleep,
The final wave in this symphony emerges.
Delta waves.
These are the slowest and most powerful rain waves.
Dominating during the deep stages of sleep.
Also known as slow wave sleep.
Delta waves are the caretaker of the brain,
Facilitating physical and mental healing,
Growth,
And recovery.
They are the foundation of a restful night's sleep,
Ensuring that you wake up feeling refreshed and revitalized.
I choose to sink deeply into a restful night's sleep.
I choose slow wave sleep.
I choose.
Mental healing,
Healing,
Healing Gross.
And wellness,
Wellness,
Wellness,
Wellness.
It all happens.
As I drift.
A why.
Away.
Away.
Delta waves.
In this deep state of rest,
Your body is hard at work.
Repairing tissues.
Building bone and muscle,
And strengthening the immune system.
Your brain too is busy.
Clearing out metabolic waste products,
Balancing neurotransmitters.
And solidifying learning and memory.
Delta waves are the unsung heroes of sleep.
Quietly working behind the scenes to keep us healthy and balanced.
As you lie in bed.
Feeling the gentle embrace of relaxation and ease.
Know that this symphony of brainwaves is a testament to your body's incredible ability to heal and rejuvenate.
Healing,
Healing,
Healing.
Growth,
Growth,
Growth.
And wellness,
Wellness,
Wellness,
Wellness.
It all happens.
As I drift.
Hawaii.
Away,
Away,
Away.
The science of relaxation and brainwaves is a reminder that even in moments of stillness,
Profound and vital processes are working with us.
So as you drift off to sleep,
Let's go of everything.
Trust in the natural rhythm of your brain waves,
Guiding you through the stages of relaxation and into the depths of restful sleep.
You might like to imagine the symphony being played softly in the background.
Each wave a note in the beautiful,
Intricate composition of sleep.
In the morning,
When you awaken,
Take a moment to appreciate the wonders of your brain,
Body,
And soul.
The symphony of your brainwaves will be ready to begin anew.
Guiding you through another day with the promise of rest and rejuvenation.
Letting this relaxation These gentle waves of your mind carry you into a peaceful,
Restorative sleep.
I choose to allow the symphony of my brainwaves to do their thing.
I choose to allow the promise of rest and rejuvenation.
When we're restless,
It's really easy to give in to our urges.
All of these things that keep our minds active.
If we can serve those urges.
Allowing them to come and go.
You're actually cutting through the tendency.
To keep your body and mind active.
And moving into the space beyond where you can sleep.
Allow yourself to open up to this moment.
And so.
Noticing.
Watching.
Being aware.
And let me guide you through the five senses to help ground you in preparation for sleep and beyond.
Letting go of everything.
And in those moments when you feel the felt sense of your breathing,
Know that there's a you that notices this.
Notice now what you can sense with your mouth.
Know that there's a you noticing this.
Notice what you can hear.
Recognize that there's a you here now.
That is aware of these experiences of sounds as they come and go in and out of your awareness.
Notice what you can feel against your skin.
Be aware that you are noticing this.
Notice what you can sense with your nose.
Be aware that you are noticing this.
And with your closed eyes.
Be aware of the you that looks out from behind your closed eyes.
And so we gently moved around the five senses in order to get in touch with the you that watches all your experiences.
Be aware of the you that is listening to these words.
Let go of everything.
Do this by recognizing that there is nothing else to do right now.
Nowhere else to be.
Nothing else to think right now.
Let's go.
Into the vastness of awareness.
Now bring awareness to the following areas as I call them out.
Throat.
Tongue.
Jaws.
Teeth.
Lips.
Cheeks.
Yes.
He elopes.
Nose.
Eyes.
Eyelids.
Eyebrows.
Now,
The awareness that looks out from behind your eyes.
Temples.
Forehead.
Top of the head.
Back of the head.
Nah.
Both shoulders.
Both arms.
Both wrists.
Fans.
Thumbs.
Index finger.
Second finger.
Third finger.
Little finger.
The space around your fingers.
Let go of everything.
Do this by recognizing that there's nothing else to do right now.
Nowhere else to be.
Nothing else to think right now.
Let's go.
Into the emptiness of awareness.
Into this day.
Restful experience.
Which prepares you.
Firstly.
Chest.
The upper back.
Rib cage.
Belly.
Batex.
Hips.
Thighs.
Knees.
Lower legs.
Ankles.
Heals.
Soles of the feet.
Top of the feet.
Feel the body as a whole.
Each sensation flowing into other ones like a giant tapestry of experiences.
Noticing some of the areas deep within your body.
Within the muscles.
The bones.
The organs of the body.
Noticing your body as a whole.
Everything resting in this moment.
The heart,
Slow,
Committed to rest.
Recognizing the energy within you.
Wherever you recognize this.
That hums away in preparation for sleep.
Can you feel this calm,
Consistent energy doing this?
Let go of everything.
Do this by recognizing.
There's nothing else to do right now.
Nowhere else to be.
Nothing else to think right now.
Let's go.
Into the emptiness of awareness.
Into this deep.
Restful sleep.
Into this beat.
Restful experience.
Into the emptiness of awareness.
Into this state of restfulness.
Slee.
Into this deep.
.
.
Restful experience.
The capacity we have.
To notice ourselves.
In this moment,
Noticing how you are gently holding your body.
Here I am.
This is me.
This practice.
Lead me.
To be here with myself.
Right here and now,
You can be as lazy as you like.
What might it be like to.
.
.
Let go completely.
Of the idea of meditation.
Leaving it out.
And what's left is this you,
This living,
Caring human being.
That is experiencing.
Simply experiencing.
Simply being.
Which is.
.
.
Non-doing.
And gently noticing.
I am aware.
Of myself noticing.
I am aware.
Of being aware.
Thoughts can do what they want.
They can be.
Vyadhaya.
That space that holds my thoughts can be soft.
That place where I experience feelings can also be soft and spacious.
Whilst I absorb.
This very moment.
Because this is everything.
With everything that comes and goes.
Thoughts as thoughts.
Failings as failings.
And my gentle awareness.
That notices.
It notices my breath as my body breathes at its own rate and rhythm.
It notices my body as I gently hold myself,
However I am resting.
It notices my mind.
And how it pulls me into all sorts of thoughts.
And here I am.
I am a spiritual being.
Having these human experiences.
Moments like these.
Are magnificent.
They can help us experience.
A little more deeply.
Something that goes beyond the words.
This is me.
Here I am.
This is it.
Not necessarily even needing to close your eyes.
Maybe your eyes are closed in this moment.
What might it be like to do something different?
And gently hold a soft gaze.
As you.
Recognize.
The is-ness of your very surroundings.
In my immediate surroundings.
All is well.
In my immediate surroundings.
I am safe.
I am safe.
And this is me.
Experiencing this.
So here we are.
No need to do anything.
Making no effort to be anywhere.
Letting go of everything.
Letting go of the need to meditate,
To do it one way or the other.
Letting go and noticing,
Here I am,
This is me.
A beautiful little opportunity.
I am aware.
Of my self-noticing.
My dear body.
Here you are.
Here we are.
This is me.
And right here and now.
I can let go of everything.
And just be here with myself.
Maybe.
By making it.
To the flow of my breathing.
As my body breathes at its own rate and rhythm.
Maybe just feeling my whole body.
As the rising and falling takes place.
Just as it will.
And with a little half-smile.
Sometimes that acknowledgement.
Can bring a soft.
Feeling tone of kindness.
Which starts within.
And emanates without.
There's something magic.
Surrounding us now.
It's everywhere.
You can drift away.
For a year and a day.
You can go up there if you like.
You can float up there.
Anything is possible.
Up there,
It's kind and spacious.
My sleepy adventure.
What does it mean?
Now I drift off.
Into you.
A dream dreamer.
Nowhere else to be.
Nothing else to think right now.
Let's go.

Of awareness.
Bring awareness to the following areas as I call them out.

Round,
Stone towers that served as defensive structures,

The structure's height,
Combined with its thick walls,
Made it a formidable stronghold during its time.
A tall stone tower perched for you to step inside.
And as you do,
The intricate stonework and defensive designs speak of a time when this brock was a stronghold for the island's inhabitants,
Guarding against the ever-present threat of invasion.

Where you stand in awe before the towering cliffs of St John's Head.
The highest vertical sea cliff in the UK.
The cliffs rise sharply from the sea,
Their rugged faces carved by the relentless waves.
Hoi is also home to the Old Man of Hoi,

Standing as a sentinel against the powerful forces of nature.
It's a landscape shaped by wind and water,
Where the elements have sculpted the Earth into something both majestic and untamed.
Finally,
You arrive on South Ronaldsay,
Where you visit the Tomb of the Eagles.
This Neolithic chambered tomb,
Discovered by a farmer in the 1950s,
Contains the remains of sea eagles,
Carefully laid to rest alongside human burials.

Who revered the eagle as a symbol of power and connection to the divine.
As the sun sets,
Its golden light bathes the landscape in a warm glow,
And you feel a profound sense of peace and connection to the ancient past.
Here you are,

Rugged cliff on the Isle of Hoy.
The night sky above is clear and vast.

The aurora dances across the heavens.
The aurora painting the sky with ribbons of green,
Pink and violet.
The lights ripple and flow like a cosmic river,
Their glow reflected on the dark waters below.
You feel a deep sense of awe as the auric lights seem to weave through the stars,
Casting a mystical glow over the entire landscape.
