Dear Gratitude,

Dear Gratitude,

I am you when I choose you.

I am writing to you and from you in appreciation and to acknowledge the profound impact that you have on me.

Your presence in my life is transformative,

On my body,

Mind and soul.

Dear Gratitude,

You are the lens which I can see the goodness in the world,

Even when times are tough.

You provide me with those little glimmers.

You remind me to notice and appreciate the positive aspects of my life,

Ensuring that I don't lose sight of the good things,

No matter what challenges I face.

This balance you provide is essential,

Helping me to navigate through difficult times by staying aligned.

When I tune in to you,

I acknowledge the meaningful actions of those around me,

As well as some of how I contribute to this world.

As I gently focus attention in this way,

It deepens my relationships.

You encourage a cycle of giving and receiving that benefits everyone involved.

It's a two-way process.

Dear Gratitude,

You teach me to appreciate not just the tangible gifts,

But also the intangible blessings.

Like being alive,

Breathing,

Friendships,

Creativity,

And the more I tune in to you,

It helps me not take these things for granted,

But to appreciate them.

I show up as a conscious human being that appreciates these little things in life,

Because these little things are the big things.

In the simple act of appreciating these little things,

Whether it's a wave to a courteous driver or a heartfelt acknowledgement of a friend,

I am open and receptive to life.

Dear Gratitude,

I am you when I choose you.

All I need to do is to tune in to you and I create this state of being open and receptive.

I am coming to know more and more that when I tune in to you,

It encourages both the giver and the receiver to experience their acts of kindness.

This ripple effect of kindness extends beyond individual relationships,

Touching the broader world around me and creating a more empathic,

Loving,

And compassionate world.

Dear Gratitude,

I feel more supported and connected to myself and the world around me because of you.

Connected to myself and the world by appreciating the full range of human emotions.

They are all there for a reason.

Dear Gratitude,

I appreciate you.

I am so grateful in knowing that when I tune in to you,

You create around 1200 different biochemical reactions that go on to restore and rejuvenate my body.

You increase the production of feel-good chemicals like dopamine,

Serotonin,

And oxytocin in my brain.

This not only enhances my mood but also promotes feelings of closeness,

Connection,

And happiness.

Dear Gratitude,

Because of you,

I am less likely to be activated by my inner critic such as the social comparisons that our minds make,

And I am more likely to foster feelings of appreciation,

Happiness,

And contentment.

This counteracts the normal and natural negativity bias that all humans have.

You teach my brain to spend more time on the feel-goods and less on the feel-bads.

When I feel you,

My dear Gratitude,

Certain parts of my brain light up and grow.

These areas are associated with rewards,

Morality,

Bonding,

And social interactions.

This activation enhances my ability to understand and connect with others,

Further deepening my connections to myself and the world.

Dear Gratitude,

I hereby am making a declaration to you right now,

A declaration of appreciation,

A declaration of commitment to you.

When practicing,

I choose to hold the time of appreciation for 20 seconds.

I do this because neuroscience shows us that this is long enough to thicken the neural template for you,

Dear Gratitude,

Within our brains.

Dear Gratitude,

You initiate a beautiful loop from within me.

The more I express you,

The more I deepen my connection with myself and the world.

This cycle expands the good for everyone involved,

Creating more meaningful connections in a more empathic,

Kind and compassionate world.

Dear Gratitude,

Thank you for all that you do.

Your presence in my life is a gift.

Dear Gratitude,

I am you when I choose you,

And I am committed to nurturing and celebrating you every day.

I choose to see the goodness in this world even amidst the tough times.

Dear Gratitude,

Thank you,

Thank you,

Thank you.

I choose to appreciate the little wins in my life from time to time.

I choose to appreciate the little moments of meaningful connection that are available to me at all times.

I love the fact that Gratitude strengthens my connections with others.

I choose to acknowledge the meaningful actions of those around me.

I love creating a positive and nurturing environment around me with you.

I choose to open up to the kindness in the world around me.

I choose to show my thanks in simple acts to contribute to this world now and again.

I love the fact that Gratitude encourages generosity and kindness in me and others.

I am feeling more and more connected to the world because of Gratitude.

I love the fact that Gratitude enhances my ability to understand and connect with others.

Every time I practice Gratitude,

I am rewiring my brain for positivity.

I am committed to nurturing myself with a little Gratitude each day.

Dear Gratitude,

I am you when I choose you.

I am you when I choose you.

When I choose you.

It is so easy to forget gratitude when things feel stacked against you and so easy to take it as a platitude. The 20 second practice, which I had forgotten about and now remember, is such a motivating way of feeling gratitude, making it real. I will begin it again today. Last night I said, ‘ when you stop giving of yourself, you stop living.’ The same can be said of when you stop feeling gratitude. Thank you Reuben 🙏
