Details

Sacred Remembrance is six days on the banks of the Ganga in Rishikesh — first three days will be focused on intention, alignment, release and the last three days we step into an Himalayan traditional ashram, to experience a life of a Sadhak. The ambiance is simple and unhurried: early mornings by the water, shared meals, and evenings that often end in chant. This is a pilgrimage as much as a retreat — we move through sacred sites and living ritual, letting a land that has held seekers for centuries hold us too. The intent is remembrance, not performance: coming back into the body through breath, sound, and movement, in a place where that kind of inner work has been practiced and refined for generations. You’ll leave with a felt sense of what’s possible when ancient technology meets your own nervous system — not just new information, but a different baseline. What makes it unique is the container: an intimate group, three guides each bringing a different lineage of practice, and the Ganga herself as a constant companion through every session.

Built like a beautiful meditation hill village, Swami Rama Sadhaka Grama (SRSG) was established by Swami Veda Bharati in 2002. Sadhaka means “spiritual seeker” and Grama means “village” in the sanskrit language – thus we are “A village of spiritual seekers devoted to the teachings of Swami Rama of the Himalayas.” Sadhakas from all spiritual traditions and from all walks of life are welcome at SRSG for learning yoga meditation. Every sadhaka arriving at the ashram receives personal instructions and the program is tailored according to the length of time one chooses to stay. You may come anytime during the year; come alone or with family and friends.

Nights 1–3 — Ganga or Mountain View Rooms Your first three nights are spent in comfortable Hotel lodging in the heart of Rishikesh, with your choice of a shared or private room looking out over either the Ganga or the surrounding mountains. A gentle landing into the retreat — ease and a little luxury before the deeper immersion begins. Nights 4–6 — Ashram Immersion For the final three nights, we move inside the ashram itself, in 3-4 shared accommodation alongside the group. This is simple, clean living in the traditional living Ashram life — fewer comforts, more presence, and the quiet companionship of waking and practicing together right on the banks of the Ganga.

FAQs

Guest requirements

  • A valid passport (at least 6 months remaining past our return date) and an Indian e-Tourist visa, which you’ll apply for online in the weeks before departure — we’ll send you the exact steps once you’re registered. We recommend checking in with your doctor or a travel clinic 4–6 weeks before we go, and picking up travel insurance for the trip. Beyond the paperwork, come ready to move your body daily (yoga, walking, simple communal living for part of the stay) and to participate with an open heart in group practice and ceremonies — this is less about fitness level and more about willingness to be fully present.

Cancellation policy

The remaining balance for the retreat is due 90 days prior to the start date. If this balance is paid earlier than these 90 days, you are eligible to cancel and receive a full refund of this remaining balance, provided you do so at least 90 days before the retreat begins.
