Schedule

The mornings will be dedicated to practice suitable for all, with or without experience of yoga or meditation. We shall begin with early morning meditation and walking meditation in silence - to allow a dropping beneath interference patterns and landing into deepening awareness & inner ease over the 7 days. After breakfast each morning, be guided in a 2-hour yoga session; experiencing embodiment in asana, breath & movement through an exploration of the layers & pathways of body wisdom & connectivity of movement. We will begin with a gentle invitation to open up the body, exploring and deepening into asana, breath & movement over the 7 days. Julie’s yoga practice is also inspired by Vanda Scaravelli, a practice that nourishes an awakening of the dance of the spine through a connection to gravity, the breath, the spine, and what Vanda called the 'wave' . An opportunity to discover freedom, ease & health of movement for the spine. Where posture opens like a flower as we land into body wisdom. Inviting you to embrace much more than just ‘doing’ the posture in an honoring of body wisdom. There will be plenty of opportunities to take walks in the forested mountains in free time. One afternoon, there will be a group hike through the forests. And an opportunity to bathe in natural pools near the end of the trail. Our morning meditation schedule will include at least one or two opportunities for a silent morning group walking meditation practice through the forested mountains. In addition, one evening at the end of the retreat, we shall enjoy a Conscious Dance/ Movement session. Each day we will have lunch at 12.30, which will be followed by afternoons for your rest and free time. Walk or hike into the forest or take a short walk down the valley to the rivers and water pools to bathe in the incredible wild mountain landscape. Or rest in the many contemplative spots in the beautiful acres of land in which the retreat centre is nestled. Watch the incredible sunsets and be bathed in the sounds and sights of mountain nature. We will return to the mat in the late afternoon for a 2 hr evening yoga practice followed by dinner. I will offer periods of daily silence. The gifts of silence nourish deep rest and a coming home to ourselves. Beginning at 9 pm each evening through until after breakfast at 10 am the next morning. In the surroundings of deep nature, silence is a gateway into a deepening connection to presence & aliveness. Participants find that rather than shutting out the world, the gift of silence is to offer a space to deeply rest. In slowing down and resting comes a discovery of a sense of deeper inner ease, connection with others, and returning to wholeness.

Testimonials

info

"Your quality of intelligent awareness and real understanding of your students is remarkable. Your generosity of spirit and intention is solid and reassuring. Most importantly your knowledge of your discipline is extensive and expert. I completely forgot to say how much better I felt! My persistent back pain is so very much improved. I can actually feel that there has been a physical easing of tension in those muscles and everything is more balanced as a result. Amazing Julie."

Sophie Orloff, United Kingdom

I needed to pause and find time to reset after a very stressful year and lots of big life changes. I chose this retreat because of its beautiful, natural surroundings. I was drawn to the idea of being far away from "normal" life and listening to the sounds of nature. It offered everything I was looking for yoga, meditation, nature, dance, and food! The retreat offered gentle yoga and plenty of props to ensure that stillness and silence were comfortable and accessible. It is a beautiful place to take some time for deep reflection and contemplation. The space for our practices was warm and cozy, the food and dining area was beautiful, and Julie, the facilitator, offered warmth and grounding energy, insightful wisdom, and a loving, calming presence throughout the weekend. I had a lot of time to be quiet and slow. This was really needed. The silence was balanced by beautiful meal times shared with a great group of like-minded people and wonderful conversation. I left the retreat feeling restored and reset, but sorry that it wasn't lasting longer! This was my first experience attending a yoga retreat, and it will certainly be hard to beat. I feel so grateful to Julie and the team at Kshanti / Les Gavatxes for cultivating a space full of beauty, connection, and wonder. Really, REALLY worth a trip to visit this place.

Transformative in all the best ways. The space & teachings she offers are wonderful and her way is unique. Julie is an amazing teacher with so so so much knowledge that she shared. Truly amazing and inspiring, very gentle teaching. I have walked away with a lot more knowledge on yoga & meditation that I will be able to integrate into my daily life and grow even further in.

Indy, Netherlands

Julie opens a unique space to come to peace and ease in COMMUNITY. Her meditation and yoga teachings are a lovely and friendly guidance into knowing ones body and connect with oneself and nature. It is incredible how she is able to create a space in a short time where EVERYONE feels seen, safe and welcome.

Eva, Germany

I have loved the gentleness , the supportive structure & the repeated invitation through example , to soften. Meditating lying down has been a welcome revelation - thank you. It is a total reset of the nervous system. Be prepared to meet yourself and step away from your comfort zones but the sense of profound freedom and peace is so worth it. Do it.
