Details

The Mindfulness Training Institute offers professional, year-long teacher training courses, providing experiential learning, in-depth instruction, and practical skills to teach with confidence and clarity. Trainees are educated in the scientific research on mindfulness, contemporary teaching forms, and the historical Buddhist context. The Mindfulness Teacher Training Program runs from September 2025 to June 2026, and is delivered via a combination of four, four-day-long in-person training modules in Berkeley, California, along with self-paced group tutorials. Participants will be expected to deliver written assignments and two video recordings of their mindfulness teaching. The training dates are as follows: Module 1: 4-7 September, 2025 Module 2: 11-14 December, 2025 Module 3: 5-8 March, 2026 Module 4: 18-21 June, 2026 After each training module, there will be mindfulness practices to follow and written assignments to complete and return to the teachers. There will also be group meetings every month between modules with the two teachers. These meetings will follow your progress and contribute further elements of mindfulness teachings and practices. In addition, you will have one individual meeting between each module with a mentor assigned to you for the duration of your training.

Northbrae is both a community center and a place for spiritual growth, established in 1914 as a welcoming space for events of all types, whether secular or religious, and regardless of any affiliation with the Northbrae Community Church congregation. Our rental community includes full-time office renters and those who rent weekly for various classes and meetings, all of whom we consider part of the Northbrae family. In addition to being a community gathering space, Northbrae serves as a performance venue for concerts, recitals, and lectures. We also host board meetings, retreats, and workshops for a diverse range of community organizations.

Guest requirements

  • A minimum of three years of regular mindfulness meditation practice

  • Attended at least two silent mindfulness retreats of a minimum of five days each

  • Attended a mindfulness course like MBSR or similar

Cancellation policy

The remaining balance for the retreat is due 30 days prior to the start date. If this balance is paid earlier than these 30 days, you are eligible to cancel and receive a full refund of this remaining balance, provided you do so at least 30 days before the retreat begins.
