Details

Enjoy an afternoon steeped in creativity in the heart of a walkable block of Uptown, Minneapolis. In this one-day retreat, we'll combine art journaling (guided visual and written self-expression) with gentle standing/chair yoga, guided meditation, and breath work to help you move through common creative obstacles such as self-doubt, blank-page anxiety, and perfectionism. Access a more curious and playful side of yourself. To begin your own art journaling practice, you'll receive a handmade journal or vintage/used book to work with (or both! it's your choice). Throughout the afternoon, we'll move through different approaches to filling your art journal with words, colors, images, and more. You'll receive guidance, materials, and inspiration at every step of the way. We'll take short yoga breaks between our creative exploration to keep the body happy and ourselves grounded. By the end of the afternoon, you'll have your own art-journal filled with pages of experiments and a kit of materials to take home so you can continue to fill your book and your creative cup. We'll focus on techniques and tips for using found/recycled and simple materials to make your art journal more eco- and budget-friendly, and you'll learn approaches to visual expression that ANYONE can do, regardless of prior experience or whether you think you’re “good” at art. (This is not about being “good at art.” Seriously, if you’re a recovering perfectionist, this is an excellent chance to soften your inner critic!) With neighboring establishments such as Mager's and Quinn booksellers, Amazing Thailand, Mosaic Coffee, and Moona Moono on the same block as our retreat space, you could plan to come early or stay late to enjoy a perfect day in Minneapolis.
