Tranquil Wisdom Insight Meditation TWIM Retreat - Lovingkindness through the Jhanas to Awakening
Details
Looking to begin or deepen your TWIM Jhana practice - based on the Buddha’s discourses? If so, head to the Dhamma Sukha Meditation Center, two hours south of St. Louis, for a 10 day Tranquil Wisdom Insight Meditation Retreat. The Buddha taught that the Jhanas were the way to Nibbana as long as you practiced the way it is taught from the Suttas. If you do you can possibly attain Nibbana during your meditation practice. The TWIM practice is based on the teachings of Bhante Vimalaramsi, meditation teacher and author. The best book on describing TWIM is "The Path to Nibbana" by David Johnson From As always at DSMC, you get a private cabin to stay in, and the food is both excellent and accommodating to most diets (omnivorous, vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free). The retreat is at the Dhamma Sukha Meditation Center deep in the Ozark Mountains with modern single cabins with AC and a tranquil forest environment. Teacher: Delson Armstrong Delson Armstrong lives at the intersection of ancient wisdom and modern inquiry, offering a bridge between traditional awakening paths and evidence-based transformation. He is the author of Mind Without Craving and profound small books on the subject of Dependent Origination. In 2017 he was asked to teach TWIM (Tranquil Wisdom Insight Meditation) by his teacher, Bhante Vimalaramsi. Since then has led hundreds of retreats and sutta study courses worldwide. Delson emphasizes experiential verification over doctrine: “Test teachings for yourself — take what works, leave the rest.” His instruction guides meditators toward deep peace, insight, and awakening with clarity, humility, and integrity. "I just attended a talk at St Francis and during the talk it was as though the energy in the room shifted to something just so deep... it was amazing-other people agreed." S.J. CA

Bhante Vimalaramsi is the abbot of Dhamma Sukha Meditation Center in Annapolis, Missouri. He is the guide for the on-site residential retreats. He teaches Tranquil Wisdom Insight Meditation (T.W.I.M.) which uses the "Mindfulness of Lovingkindness" practice (otherwise known as the practice of the Brahma Viharas) for the journey to Nibbāna. Little known fact but verifiable in the suttas is that the practice of Metta, as part of the larger Brahma Vihara practice, will take you to all the way through the Divine Abidings to the moment of awakening - Nibbāna - where a transformation of mind takes place. Happiness arises as the burden of the ego melts away.
