Welcome to this guided meditation to help build your inner confidence and self-esteem in social situations.
My name is Lesley and I am grateful that you have chosen to join me.
And as you close your eyes,
I'd like you to notice what's going on behind those closed eyelids.
Perhaps you can see colors.
Perhaps it's just a black velvet curtain.
Perhaps you can see shapes.
Whatever it is that is going on behind those closed eyelids is exactly what is supposed to be happening for you.
And notice how your muscles are starting to relax with every breath that you take.
And with every breath,
You find yourself relaxing deeper and deeper.
And I wonder if you've noticed yet how when you breathe in,
You can feel cool air through your nostrils.
And as you breathe out,
You can feel warm air through your nostrils.
And as you begin to breathe more deeply now,
You find yourself relaxing more and more with every word that I speak.
And every word that I speak,
You find yourself drifting deeper and deeper.
And just notice now where your hands are resting,
Noticing how they feel.
Only you know how they feel.
Maybe they feel heavy or light,
Warm or cold.
Only you know.
Because these are your sensations.
And as you relax more and more deeply,
Focusing on this hypnotic music,
And simply allow that music to take you deeper and deeper.
And in a moment,
I'm going to count down from 10 to 1.
And with every number that I count,
You'll find yourself relaxing deeper and deeper.
And at the same time,
You can just allow your mind to wander,
Allowing your mind to wander in the quiet spaces between my words,
Just letting it wander wherever it chooses to wander.
And you can just allow any thoughts that come into your mind to simply disappear again,
As if floating by on a cloud.

Drifting.
Nice and relaxed.
Going deeper and deeper.

Nobody wants anything from you now.
This is your special time.

The only thing that you'll be interested in now is the warm,
Comforting sound of my voice.

The sound of my voice will keep you safe at all times as you relax deeper and deeper.

And you can imagine a blanket of comfort wrapping around you.
This blanket of comfort wraps around you from head to toe.

Just allowing yourself to drift deeper and deeper as the sound of my voice echoes through the unconscious part of your mind.

Soothing,
Comforting,
And so very,
Very relaxed.

Simply imagine yourself drifting deeper and deeper,
Where the only sensations you can experience are pleasant sensations.

The comforting sound of my voice takes you down to that next level of peace and tranquility.

Feeling very calm now,
Very peaceful,
And very,
Very relaxed.
And now that you are feeling calm and comfortable,
I'd like to talk to that part of you that knows all about you.
That part of you that knows everything about you.
And you may have been feeling a little lost in the world.
But before we talk about that,
I want to just congratulate you.
To tell you what a success you truly are.
That you've already been so far in your life.
You have persevered through all the ups and downs of life.
So you can have a real reason to feel good.
To know that you can allow yourself to feel joy again.
So I'd like you to simply take yourself in your mind right now to a time,
To a place where you felt most relaxed,
Most at ease with the world.
Perhaps that was while you were on a holiday somewhere.
Perhaps it's somewhere out in nature.
Wherever that place is for you,
Where you have felt the most at ease,
The most relaxed,
The most at peace within the world.
Just take yourself now in your own mind to that place,
To that time.
Imagining,
Pretending,
Visualizing as though it's happening for you right now.
That you are there in that place right now.
And all you can see,
All that you can hear in that place,
In that time.
Recalling how it feels just being there.
Just be there in your own mind right now.
And just know that this is a place where you can take yourself in your own mind anytime that you choose.
Because it's so true that anytime we can be wherever we want to be in our own minds,
We have such a powerful imagination.
We have such powerful recall of memory and we can control how we think,
How we feel,
How we react.
And how good,
How good would it be if you could find yourself feeling as good as you did in that place,
In that time.
Feeling happier,
Perhaps feeling more confident,
Feeling really good about yourself.
How good would that be?
And I wonder in your own mind,
What you're doing in that place,
In that time where you felt most at ease,
Most at peace,
Most relaxed with your world.
I wonder how good it felt.
If you felt really good about yourself in that time,
In that place,
What was it that you were doing?
Were you with other people?
Were you talking with other people?
Perhaps you were on your own.
Perhaps you were with other people.
Perhaps there were other things going on.
But I just like you to think for a moment,
To remember,
To create an image in your own mind.
Create an image of you in that place,
At that time,
Feeling so wonderful,
Feeling so at peace,
So at ease,
So calm and so relaxed.
Bring that to mind and simply allow yourself to be there and in your own mind,
Allow yourself to look at yourself as if you're looking in a mirror.
See that version of you,
Confident,
Happy,
Relaxed,
Calm and at peace within yourself.
Bring to mind that time.
Turn up the volume.
Turn up the colors.
Turn up the brightness.
Really feel yourself there.
Bring that image fully into your mind,
Fully into your heart,
Feeling how wonderful it felt.
And I wonder what that confident version of you is doing.
Just take a moment to think about what that confident you would be doing.
Perhaps you're talking with people,
Just feeling more at ease.
Perhaps with simple day to day interactions with people,
But just getting a sense or a feeling of you looking,
Feeling,
Being confident.
Even if it feels right now like you would just be pretending to be confident,
That is okay.
Because sometimes when we pretend and we do it often enough,
We're able to convince our own unconscious mind that we really truly are confident.
Pulling on those feelings of confidence,
Seeing yourself feeling confident,
Feeling at peace,
Feeling at ease.
Now I know that sometimes we have these negative thoughts that go through our minds.
Sometimes we have self doubts.
But what I'd like you to do is I would like you anytime there's a negative voice within your head,
Anytime you feel any self doubts,
Any negative talk.
I'd like you to immediately become aware of those thoughts and those feelings.
And remember that they serve absolutely no purpose.
And that you immediately imagine just dumping those feelings,
Pulling them out of your mind,
Burying them somewhere.
Just dumping those feelings because you know that they serve absolutely no purpose whatsoever.
And it really doesn't matter what method you use to eliminate and to dump those feelings,
Those emotions.
Whatever way works for you.
You immediately,
Immediately dump those thoughts.
And as soon as you've dumped those thoughts,
You immediately replace them with that image of the confident you,
The happier you,
The calm,
Relaxed and peaceful you.
So that anytime you find yourself with those old thought patterns resurfacing in your mind,
You immediately become aware of them.
And you immediately dump those thoughts and you replace them with that image of you completely confident,
Completely calm and at ease and at peace with yourself.
Feeling,
Looking,
Being happier.
And each and every day you allow those feelings to build within you.
And I would like you for a moment to just think about your favorite color.
What's your favorite color?
And I'd like you to attach those feelings of confidence,
Those feelings of being at peace,
Of being at ease with the world,
Feeling calmer,
Feeling happier.
I'd like you to connect those feelings with your favorite color.
Just connect those feelings with your favorite color.
If you don't have a favorite color,
That's okay.
Just pick the first color that comes to your mind and really connect your feelings with that color.
And when you have that color,
I'd like you to turn up the brightness for that color.
I'd like you to imagine that that color is permeating every part of your being,
Filling every part of you from the top of your head all the way to the tip of your toes.
And as that color fills every part of you,
That confidence,
That happier you,
That calm,
Relaxed and confident you becomes bigger and brighter.
Just as that color becomes brighter,
Filling every part of you.
And now as you take a nice deep breath in,
I'd like you to know that every time you see your favorite color anywhere,
Anytime you see that color that you have connected with that confident,
Calm,
Happier version of you,
Anytime you see that color anywhere,
These feelings will immediately be magnified within you.
Those feelings of self-confidence,
Of self-worth,
Those feelings of being happier,
Of being joyful,
Those feelings of calm,
Peacefulness will increase more and more every time you see that color.
As a matter of fact,
Every time you even think about that color,
These feelings will magnify and every day,
Every single day,
These feelings will become stronger and stronger.
Just knowing that every time you see that color,
That image of you,
That confident,
Happy,
Relaxed you,
That snapshot will immediately come up in your mind.
Those feelings will immediately fill every part of your body.
That color will immediately fill every part of you.
Now in a moment,
I'm going to count from one to five.
When I reach the number five,
You'll open your eyes feeling wonderful,
Feeling energized.
But just know that if you would like to just stay where you are to perhaps drift into sleep,
You can immediately allow your mind to shut down now,
Focusing on everything that you have absorbed today.
So if you would like to drift off to sleep,
Do that now,
Immediately shutting out the sound of my voice.
But if you are ready to return to the room,
One,
All normal feeling for you is returning to your arms,
To your legs,
To your body.
Two,
You're feeling wonderful in every way,
Feeling confident,
Feeling happy,
Feeling relaxed.
Two,
Three,
Allowing that color to continue to permeate every part of your being,
Knowing that every time you see that color or even think about that color,
These feelings will magnify more and more.
Four,
Feeling so confident,
Feeling so wonderful.
Take a nice deep breath now.
Five,
Eyes wide open,
Feeling wonderful,
Feeling energized and feeling ready to face the rest of your day.
