When you're hoping to bring more mindfulness into your life,
And you're facing challenges in your life,
You may repeat the following very empowering set of affirmations based in part on the identification exercise in the act of will,
Published by the Synthesis Center Press,
2010.
Repeat these affirmations in a relaxed and open meditative state.
Repeating this meditation in its full form once or twice a day for a couple of months will be good for you and very effective.
Afterwards,
Just repeat the final affirmation as needed to reignite its power.
To begin,
Go to a place where you will not be disturbed by others for about 20 minutes and put on some earphones or earbuds and listen.
Let's begin.
Once you are reasonably sure that you're in a place where you will not be disturbed by others for about 20 minutes,
Get into your favorite position for meditation or just lie back or sit back and relax.
Close your eyes and follow along with what I say.
For 20 minutes only,
There is no place to go,
Nothing to do but relax,
Enjoy and learn.
Breathe in,
I am and out,
Relaxing.
Again,
In,
I am and out,
Relaxing.
One more time,
In,
I am and out,
Relaxing.
Now continue to breathe naturally.
If you become disturbed or distracted,
Just bring your attention back to your out-breath,
Allowing it to relax you more and more while you pay attention to my guidance.
Make yourself very present in your surroundings.
First by remembering the place where you are right now,
The size of the area,
The things around you and their colors.
You can also notice your body position,
How your body touches the surfaces you are resting on,
Where your hands are placed,
Where your feet are placed.
You can notice the volume of my voice,
Its pitch,
Its speed and rhythm.
And as you do that,
Relax,
Let go of any tension and let your body soften,
Soften more.
Now remember what the place you are in looks like,
Where the lights are,
How light or dark it is.
Notice your breath as it goes in and out your nose,
Your belly as it's moving in and out.
Notice the background music and any sounds you might hear around you.
All of these senses can become a part of your experience.
Blend in with your experience,
Accept them and as you do,
Relax,
Let go of any tension and let your body soften.
Double that relaxation.
Now remember the facial expression of a happy sleeping baby,
The smooth softness of a baby's skin or the smell of baby powder and the happiness of a baby's giggle.
As you do,
Relax,
Let go of any tension and let your body soften,
Relax down,
All the way down to the very basement of relaxation.
Know that you can feel this way every time you listen to this program or hear my voice.
Now open your mind like a very curious baby opens his or her mind,
All eyes and all ears and repeat the following affirmations as you learn,
Really learn,
Honestly learn with every cell of your body.
Repeat them aloud or sub vocalize them or repeat them in your heart or even let your cells sing them.
It's all good.
Let's begin.
I have a body but I am not this body.
This temporary body of mine may be healthy,
Ill,
Fit or unfit.
Injured,
Healing or healed.
Rested or tired.
Growing or disintegrating.
And none of these physical states have anything to do with the real me.
My body is an avatar,
A spokesman,
A mode of transportation,
An instrument to experience this elder world.
I observe its birth and death,
Value what health and capabilities it has at any point in time and take care of it.
But it is not me.
I have a body but I am not my body.
I have a my rid of ever changing feelings of pain and pleasure.
But I am not my feelings.
They can go from one extreme to another.
Sometimes exploding,
Sometimes hiding.
Always disappearing.
These transitory feelings are not who I am.
They are not my true and unchanging nature.
They cannot harm me.
They cannot tell me what's right or wrong,
Good or bad.
But they can hint that I pay some attention to what is.
Happily I check in on my feelings frequently.
I identify,
Accept and learn from them.
Use them as references as I move forward.
But I am not them.
I have feelings but I am not my feelings.
I have thoughts but I am not my thoughts.
My mind is a busy,
Talkative and creative organ of memory.
Past programming and indoctrinations.
Experience and knowledge.
Uncapable of logic.
But it is not me.
Not the real me.
My thoughts are well-meaning and offer options and alternate explanations for everything.
They are sometimes truthful,
Sometimes not.
Sometimes useful,
Sometimes not.
They sometimes uncover the truth,
Sometimes deny it and sometimes obscure it.
Happily I heed my thoughts when the time is right and they are correct.
But I challenge,
Change or dilute them when they are not correct.
When the time is not right I turn their volume down or simply ignore them.
This allows me to pay attention to the life my real self wants me to live without interrupting thoughts.
I have thoughts but I am not my thoughts.
I have desires but I am not my desires.
I have desires for love,
Friendship and belonging.
Desires for perfection,
Recognition or a thumbs up.
Desires for security and constancy.
As well as desires for many other things outside myself.
Those carrots before my horse.
They may sometimes be necessary or helpful but often my reaching for them only serves to distract me from uncomfortable feelings,
Thoughts or boredom.
And thus addiction to them can keep me from learning and growing.
Although I may get my desires they often only temporarily satisfy me and my need for growth and self appreciation remains.
Therefore I can practice refraining.
Refraining from feeding my sweet tooth or buying a toy.
Every time my desire cries.
I have desires but I am not my desires.
If I am not my body,
Feelings,
Thoughts or desires then who am I?
I am pure consciousness.
A center of will.
I am capable of observing,
Interpreting,
Framing and reframing,
Directing and using my body,
Feelings,
Thoughts and desires.
To be who I want to be in this world.
I am becoming more mindful of this each day.
I easily forgive myself when I confuse my body,
Feelings,
Thoughts and desires with who I really am and what my path is.
And I can happily get back on my path and steer my life forward.
I am the captain of my own ship.
My affirmation.
I affirm I have a body but I am not my body.
I have feelings but I am not my feelings.
I have thoughts but I am not my thoughts.
I have desires but I am not my desires.
I am pure consciousness.
A center of will.
The captain of my own ship.
Now you can use your own time and your own way to come out of your meditative state knowing that your unconscious mind continue to learn and practice these affirmations and remembering that every action begins with a thought.
And you can rejoin wakeful awareness feeling good that you have taken care of yourself.
