Welcome,
Wherever you are,
Whatever you're feeling,
This is a space where you don't have to push or pretend.
You don't have to perform for anyone,
Not even yourself.
So in this space,
You're invited to feel and to be with what is,
Especially the parts that might feel stuck or tight or guarded or slow.
So let's begin today by finding a comfortable position,
Lying down or seated with feet grounded.
Let your eyes close gently or lower your gaze and begin to feel the natural rhythm of your breath,
Following the natural breath with no need to control it,
Simply feeling every inhale and feeling every exhale.
With each breath,
Allow yourself to arrive,
To come down out of the mind and into the body.
Notice how your body is supported by the ground beneath you.
Notice where you're in contact with the earth.
Notice what's holding you without asking you to do anything in return.
And now start to gently deepen the breath,
Inhaling through the nose,
Slow and steady,
And exhaling through the mouth with a soft sigh.
Let's do that again,
Inhale and exhale,
Releasing a little more with each breath.
And as you connect to your breath and connect to your body,
Begin to tune into the places in your body that may feel tight or braced,
Closed or guarded.
And we're not trying to get rid of anything,
We're simply getting curious.
Take a gentle scan from your forehead down through your jaw,
Your neck and shoulders,
Your chest,
Belly,
Hips,
Thighs.
Where is your body saying no right now?
Where is it resisting?
Allow your breath to go there,
Inhaling gently into that place and exhaling with softness like you're sending kindness into the tightness.
And now let's bring in a little imagery.
I invite you to imagine that somewhere inside of you,
Beneath all the tension,
Beneath the armor,
There's a river.
It's not a loud river.
It might be quiet,
Underground or even blocked,
But it's there.
The river represents your energy,
Your truth,
Your grief,
Your vitality,
Your creativity,
Your wild,
Authentic,
Alive self.
And just like water,
This river wants to move,
But somewhere along the way,
A dam was built out of fear,
Out of protection,
Out of habit.
That's okay.
That's normal.
Right now,
We're just becoming aware of the dam and listening to what's underneath it.
Maybe ask yourself,
Where in my body do I feel the most resistance right now?
What emotion or truth might be waiting just beneath it?
And stay with your breath.
You don't need an answer right away.
You might feel a flutter in the belly,
A heaviness in the chest,
A sense of pressure in the throat.
Just breathe with it.
And now,
Imagine gently loosening a stone from this inner dam.
You're not smashing it.
You're simply allowing a small stream to start flowing again.
And let your breath support that flow.
Inhale into the place where you feel held back.
Exhale and let something move even a little.
If there's emotion,
Let it rise.
If there's sound,
Let it out.
A sigh,
A breath,
A quiet,
Or even a whisper of a sob.
Give yourself that permission.
This is the river beneath resistance,
And you're safe to feel it now.
So let's spend the next few minutes just being with this movement.
And now bring one hand to your belly and the other hand to your heart.
Feel the connection of your hands to your body.
Feel the quiet movement of breath between them.
And ask yourself,
What is this river carrying for me?
What's been waiting to be felt?
What might be possible when I let this flow again?
And let whatever arises be enough.
There may be grief or relief or nothing but stillness,
Which is a feeling too.
Now gently imagine the river flowing through your whole body,
Not forcefully but just naturally.
From your belly,
From your feet to your heart,
From your hips to your throat,
From your belly to your breath.
Let yourself be a channel.
Let yourself be moved.
And breathe with this for another few moments.
And now as we begin to close,
Take a moment of gratitude.
Gratitude not for fixing anything but for simply being with what is.
You showed up.
You listened.
You allowed something to move.
That is enough.
Let's take one final deep breath together.
Inhale fully into the body.
Hold for a moment.
And exhale with sound,
Maybe a sigh,
Maybe a whisper.
Feel your body resting.
Feel your river flowing just a little more freely.
And when you're ready,
Wiggle your fingers and toes.
Move slowly.
And open your eyes.
Come back to your space.
Carrying with you a knowing that beneath resistance there is always life waiting to move again.
Thank you for practicing with me today.
