This Winter Solstice guided meditation helps you reflect on your relationship to nature through awareness and breathing. This specific meditation was created for the Great Conjunction of 2020 - the day that Jupiter and Saturn will appear closest for Earth-based stargazers. On this longest night of the year, these two giant planets of our solar system will draw closer together in the night sky than they have been in centuries, brightening the sky.

Welcome to this winter solstice meditation.

To begin,

Arrive in a comfortable position,

Either seated or laying down.

Now close your eyes and begin by taking a few cleansing and calming breaths.

Deeply breathing in and exhaling slowly.

Breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth.

Relax as you release the breath.

Breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth.

Breathing in through your nose and out through your mouth.

With each breath,

You move deeper into the silent space within,

Into your inner world.

Now let your body soften.

Let your breath flow slowly and naturally.

Let your mind and heart soften as we begin this journey.

Imagine walking barefoot through a sandy beach at night.

The moon is barely visible to light your path.

And at first,

Your steps are unsure.

The more you attune yourself to the silent world around you,

The more your senses begin to perceive details along the path.

The ocean air is crisp and cold,

Fragrant with the salty aroma of the sea.

You walk with confidence as you see with your inner eyes.

You may feel the grains of the sand between your toes.

What do you feel?

You may hear the waves rolling in.

What do you hear?

You may see things you haven't noticed before,

Emerging in the shadows.

What do you see?

You trust your intuition as it guides you on your path.

Answers reveal themselves as you surrender to the power of the unseen.

You feel safe and protected.

A warm feeling starts to bubble up in your solar plexus.

The warmth spreads to your arms and legs through your whole body.

A pleasant tingling sensation accompanies the warm glow that now seems to emanate from your body,

Creating a field of pleasant vibrating energy throughout and around you.

The source of light and warmth is within,

Always accessible.

Your internal sun.

You are equally comfortable with the dark as with the light.

You are balanced in harmony with all of nature beneath you,

Around you,

And above you as you turn your gaze towards the night sky above you.

A blanket of brilliant little stars illuminate the sky.

You notice a closer alignment between two particular heavenly bodies of luminous lights dancing in the sky.

You recognize those lights and feel safe as gratitude washes over you,

Opening your heart to the beauty of this sacred time in space.

When you are ready,

Bring your awareness back to your body,

Back to this room,

Around you,

And walk forward in peace.
