Hello and welcome to this meditation to help you gain a much higher perspective.
My name is Juana and I'm so excited to blast off into outer space with you.
Begin by getting settled into your preferred seating position,
Ideally seated upright with your spine straight,
But if that's not accessible to you,
Laying down is perfectly alright too.
The key here is comfort and ease.
When you've found your ideal launchpad,
Close your eyes and take a few deep breaths,
Allowing your body and mind to settle into the here and now.
With each inhalation,
Fuel yourself with pure energy and life force.
With each exhalation,
Let go of any tension or worries,
Allowing yourself to land here fully.
Now I'd like you to use the power of your brilliant imagination to envision yourself on a launchpad,
The breathtaking vastness of the starry sky above you.
The bright city lights have been replaced by the countless shimmering jewels shining overhead,
The mystical tapestry of stars stretching endlessly in every direction around you,
But for your connectedness with the vastness of the cosmos,
This grandiose design is that composed your body,
Such as carbon,
Oxygen,
Nitrogen and many others,
Were once forged in the cores of ancient stars through the process of nuclear fusion.
So when one says you're made of stars,
There is truth to that.
Allow a feeling of entire being as you contemplate that truth.
You're on a planetary voyage into outer space.
Are you ready for it?
If so,
Make your way into the spacecraft waiting for you on the launchpad just ahead of you.
As you step inside and take a seat,
Feel the support of the cushion beneath you.
It's time for takeoff.
Sense the anticipation building within you as the countdown begins.
T minus 10,
9,
8,
Visualize the rocket engines igniting,
7,
6,
The engines are starting to propel you upwards,
5,
4,
Feel the increasing force lifting you off the ground,
The vibration so powerful,
3,
2,
1 and liftoff.
You experience the force of immense power and speed as you say goodbye to Earth down below you and break through the atmosphere.
Celebrate your weightlessness as you float effortlessly within the spacecraft.
Look out the window,
Take in the incredible view before you,
Marvel at all the stars and planets around you,
Connect with a deep sense of unity with the vastness of space.
As you realize that you're part of something so much greater than your small earthly self can truly comprehend,
Which has now become nothing more than a tiny pale blue dot,
I'd like you to reflect on this poignant description from American astronomer Carl Sagan read for you here word for word.
From this distant vantage point,
The Earth might not seem of any particular interest,
But for us,
It's different.
Consider again that dot,
That's here,
That's home,
That's us.
On it,
Everyone you love,
Everyone you know,
Everyone you ever heard of,
Every human being who ever was lived out their lives.
The aggregate of our joy and suffering,
Thousands of confident religions,
Ideologies and economic doctrines,
Every hunter and forager,
Every hero and coward,
Every creator and destroyer of civilization,
Every king and peasant,
Every young couple in love,
Every mother and father,
Hopeful child,
Inventor and explorer,
Every teacher of morals,
Every corrupt politician,
Every superstar,
Every supreme leader,
Every saint and center in the history of our species lived right there,
On a moat of dust,
Suspended in a sunbeam.
The Earth is but a small stage in a vast cosmic arena.
Think of the rivers of blood spilled by all those generals and emperors,
So that in glory and triumph,
They could become the momentary masters of a fraction of a dot.
Think of the endless cruelties visited by the inhabitants of one corner of this pixel on the scarcely distinguishable inhabitants of some other corner.
How frequent their misunderstandings,
How eager they are to kill one another,
How fervent their hatreds,
Our posturings,
Our imagined self-importance,
The delusion that we have some privileged position in the universe,
Are challenged by this point of pale light.
Our planet is a lonely speck in the great enveloping cosmic dark.
In our obscurity,
In all this vastness,
There is no hint that help will come from elsewhere to save us from ourselves.
The Earth is the only world known so far to harbor life,
There is nowhere else,
Not least in the near future,
To which our species can migrate.
Visit?
Yes.
Settle?
Not yet.
Like it or not,
For the moment,
The Earth is where we make our stand.
It has been said that astronomy is a humbling and character-building experience.
There's perhaps no better demonstration of the quality of human conceit than this distant image of our tiny world.
To me,
It underscores our responsibility to deal more kindly with one another,
And to preserve and cherish the pale blue dot beyond what we've ever known.
Use these next few breaths to let those wise words sink in.
How do they change your perspective on life,
And perhaps even on your purpose here on Earth?
Meditate on any wisdom that comes forth from within you.
Appreciate the silence and stillness of the space around you and within you.
Allow it to bring you into an even deeper sense of peace and calm.
Bring your attention back to your breath as you continue to float weightlessly.
Connect to the gentle rise and fall of your chest as you immerse yourself in the beauty and expansiveness of the universe,
Knowing that the vastness of the cosmos resides within you.
Express gratitude for this unique experience and outlook.
Understand that you can return back to this inner journey to outer space whenever you need a moment of tranquility,
Connection,
Or reality check.
It's now time to come back down to Earth,
So when you're ready,
Feel your body to Earth connection,
Wiggle your fingers,
Wiggle your toes,
And gently open your eyes,
Taking in one final deep breath to land in the present more fully.
Carry this sense of peace,
Wonder,
And higher perspective as you navigate through daily life.
As always,
Let me know how your interstellar journey went,
And follow along for more to come.
