Meditation with Sufi mystic and poet Omar Khayyan on Happiness Welcome to Meditation with Sufi mystic and poet Omar Khayyan,
Whose message was to live in the present moment and drink the nectar of Divine's wine,
Get drunk in this love and celebrate your life in here and now.
If you like,
Close your eyes and listen with your heart to go deeper into the essence of the message of Khayyan.
Let's start with a story.
A Sufi mystic who had always remained happy was asked.
For 70 years,
People had watched him.
He had never been found sad.
One day they asked him,
What is the secret of your happiness?
He said,
There is no secret.
Every morning when I wake up,
I meditate for 5 minutes and I say to myself,
Listen,
Now there are two possibilities.
You can be miserable or you can be blissful.
I choose and I always choose to be blissful.
How beautiful that story is.
And yes,
We always have a choice.
Every morning when we open our eyes,
We have a choice to start a happy day,
A blissful day,
A graceful day or to stay sad and complain about our miserable life.
Yes,
It is a choice.
This is true.
And there are some things in life that are out of our hands.
Past hurts,
Dramatic events in the world,
Injustice,
Ignorant people and many more.
But we are the one to choose how we want to feel inside.
We can feel sad and it's absolutely fine as we should live all our emotions.
But once you pass the phase of releasing your emotions,
You still are the one choosing on how you want to feel as the story tell us so beautifully.
Meditate each morning for 5 minutes and then ask yourself,
Do you want to feel miserable?
Do you want to feel blissful?
And what is your answer?
You always have a choice.
Choose wisely and celebrate your life in each and every moment as once you inhale,
You never know the next exhale will follow.
So rejoice in this moment and live every day as if it was the best day of your life.
Now let's listen to Khayyam and his message to us.
While including all the growing solidity,
The lyrics of Khayyam aren't too hard.
Daria obdami ke ba tarab migozarat.
Saghih gham-e farda ye harifan chekhori.
Pishar pial-e raq-e shab migozarat.
One moment in annihiliation's waste.
One moment of the will of life to taste.
The stars are setting and the caravan draws to the down of nothing-o.
Make haste.
And for you my beloved friends in French language.
We only have one moment in the desert of annihilation.
One moment to taste a well of life.
The stars are setting and the caravan already to chaloror du nez au presto.
The meaning of the poem is life is passing by so fast.
Enjoy every breath you take.
Don't be sorrowful about what future might be.
Bring up the cup as the night shall pass too.
In Persian Sufi poetry you hear the words cup upon which you fill it with wine.
This is symbolic for divine's nectar of love and to get drunk in the love of the beloved.
So Khayyam reminds us to be in this moment madly in love and drunk with divine's lights of love.
Enjoy each and every moment of your precious life.
May your heart be in joy.
May you be happy and in peace.
Love you in all ways.
