Investing in a better nights’ sleep, beforehand during the day
In this session we will learn how to invest in a good night’s sleep through managing your stress levels and taking care of yourself during the day. We will look at the role your autonomic nervous system plays in establishing healthy sleeping patterns and how thoughts have the power to either assist or hinder the process of falling asleep. We will explore the practice of being present in your body to help you prepare for sleep.

Practicing Good Sleep Hygiene
In this session we will learn how to practice good sleep hygiene before bedtime to put your body and mind in the optimum state for sleep. We will look at self-care practices that naturally prepare the body for sleep, and we will explore how to use your breath to release tension and stress.

Letting go of the day
In this session we will learn which are the most conducive mental attitudes for sleep. We look at the five different brainwave states and how to naturally induce ‘Delta’ sleep. We will explore the practice of giving yourself permission to rest in the present and switch off from the day.

Accepting things as they are
In this session we will learn how your attitude towards falling asleep affects your ability to do so. We will look at the personality types that are most likely to have difficulty falling asleep, and how to break unhelpful thinking patterns that prevent sleep. We will explore the practice of acceptance.

How to self-comfort and self-soothe
In this session we will learn how your relationship with yourself may be affecting your sleep. We will look at the benefits of developing a kind and supportive attitude towards yourself and we will explore self-soothing practices.

Letting go of the need to control
In this session we will learn how the need to be in control of everything can make it harder to fall sleep. We will look at how having an attitude of allowing sleep to come in its own time, makes it easier to surrender naturally to sleep. We will explore the practice of trusting that sleep will come when it’s ready.

Soothing the Busy Mind
In this session we will learn how sleep difficulties can be caused by disrupted circadian rhythms. We will look at ways to calm an over-active mind and trigger the release of the sleep hormone, melatonin. We will explore a soothing visualization practice.

Creating a Safe Space
In this session we will learn how to use your imagination and the power of suggestion to create a ‘safe, comforting space’ to assist you in the process of falling asleep. We continue to explore the practice of visualization as a sleep aide

Surrendering to Sleep
In this session we will learn how difficulty sleeping can often be a learned habit. We will continue developing an attitude of trust in your body’s inherent ability to sleep.

Falling Asleep Naturally
In this session, we review all that we’ve covered in the course that will help you establish healthy sleeping patterns. We will combine mental attitude, the breath and self-soothing practices to train your mind and body to fall asleep naturally.
