This practice is intended to encourage a feeling of safety in daily life. This practice brings about a calmer nervous system for better focus and clarity of mind. Emotions can be more balanced as feelings of security are no longer threatened. This is a useful tool for those who have suffered trauma and mental health challenges to create a safe headspace before working through more challenging aspects of the mind and emotions.

The practice of a safe space can be very supportive for your yoga nidra practice.

Taking some time each day to visualise this safe space can be quick and simple.

If you find visualisation difficult you can focus on the feelings that a safe space would create for you.

Finding a comfortable position,

Lying or seated.

Allow yourself to wriggle and settle.

Then take a nice deep inhale and a sigh to let any tension out.

Allow another deep inhale and another full sigh out.

And then think of a time or place where you felt very safe.

This can be real or imaginary.

Somewhere that when you feel fear you go to.

Picture this place or feel it with full sensations.

Be aware of the detail.

Start with the bigger picture like the wide screen shot of a movie.

And allow your scene of safety to be filled in with detail.

Feel like you are living that safe space in this moment.

Whether there are people with you.

Whether they are animals.

Or nature or pictures.

Feel the presence of anyone that supports you in your safe space.

And really live in that safe space right now.

And as you allow that safe place to sink into your senses.

Allow it to reside inside your heart space.

Allowing it to settle as a space of unconditional love that you can tap into for you at any time.

A place in your body of safety.

Of security.

And allow that safe space to fill from your heart the whole of your body.

And when you are ready you can leave this safe space.

Knowing that it is in your heart wherever you may need it.

And you can use this safe space daily becoming familiar with it and knowing how to access it quickly.

So that you can use it in daily situations when you feel stressed or during your daily yoga nidra practice.

And when you are ready in your own time gently open your eyes and return to your day.

I liked it very much which surprised me because I'm not usually very good at visualization. Maybe because it was a gentle voice and left it up to you to visualize the safe space however you wanted to instead of almost forcing you to do it in a certain way. Not sure. But it worked for me and in the end, i felt safe and relaxed. Thanks ๐Ÿ™
