Thank you everyone for coming to this guided meditation.
So often in our day to day we are faced with stressors or clutter of the mind.
We call this the monkey mind in that it takes us away from the present moment.
Any thoughts of things that we need to do,
How we should have reacted in a past situation.
Or just little things that are in our future or in our past that bog the mind down.
These types of things weigh in on us in our day to day and they create or build up to create things such as anxiety,
High nerves,
Mental disruption,
Inability to focus.
And it weakens our mind,
Body and spirit connection.
So this meditation is for us to come back to the present moment and really remind ourselves of what's really important.
Why do we do the things that we do each day?
Why do we show up for work?
What is our purpose here and who are we serving?
Coming back to the present moment allows us to ease our nervous system.
It creates a better foundation in our body and our minds.
And it helps us better react to situations.
So as you're guided through this meditation,
I invite you to create equal length breaths.
Please close your eyes if you haven't already done so.
And begin your breath on the count of in two,
Three,
Four,
Out two,
Three,
Four.
Ensure your body is comfortable,
That you are in a seated position and that your eyes are focusing inward towards the center of your eyebrows.
This is our area of intuition and inner knowing.
And this is what you can come back to for your mind to center in on the present moment.
So allow yourself to have two or three breaths here.
In two,
Three,
Four,
Out two,
Three,
Four.
Picture yourself standing in a bright white empty space.
You're standing there with your eyes closed and as you open your eyes,
There's an empty bookshelf in front of you.
At your feet is a big pile of books.
You pick up one of the books and you brush off the dust on the front cover.
And the title of that book is one of your thoughts that has come to mind.
One of your thoughts that is rooted in the past or one of your thoughts that is rooted in the future.
Something that is a to do or something that is a regret.
Having things as little or as simple as I need to go home and cook dinner tonight,
I have to pick up something from the grocery store.
I wish I had done that differently yesterday.
These are the thoughts that you're going to title on these books.
And once you've put that thought as a title on the book,
You're going to exhale.
And as you exhale,
Put the book on the bookshelf in front of you.
Pick up your next book.
And if it's a large,
Heavy thought,
Maybe it's one that weighs down on your shoulders more.
Make that book heavier.
Make it a hardcover.
Maybe it's more pages.
This is a bigger book.
This is something that really takes you away from the present moment.
Put that thought as a title of that book and put that book on the bookshelf in front of you.
Try to pick up the books in front of you.
Entitle them with any of the thoughts that are from your past or from your future that are in your head right now.
As you inhale,
Pick up a book.
And as you exhale,
Put it on the bookshelf in front of you.
I invite you to do this for a few more breaths.
In two,
Three,
Four,
Out two,
Three,
Four.
Put your last book on the bookshelf in front of you.
Fill it with a thought.
And now turn around,
Away from the bookshelf.
And as you turn around and as your back faces the bookshelf,
It disappears behind you,
Vanishes.
And in front of you is a long hallway with an open door at the end.
On the walls of this hallway are bookshelves stocked full of books.
These are your subconscious thoughts.
These books are already stacked away,
But these are things that represent hidden thoughts within you.
Hidden thoughts of the past.
Hidden thoughts of future comings.
That weigh in on us without us even knowing.
These little thoughts,
They contribute to our monkey mind.
And so this hallway represents all those,
Those items,
Those to-dos,
Those past regrets,
Those experiences that have taken you away from living in the present.
So you're going to walk down this hallway and each step you take,
You'll inhale.
And each bookshelf you pass,
You'll exhale.
And when you pass a bookshelf,
It will disappear behind you.
It will vanish into thin air.
Allow yourself to walk through this hallway.
Maybe trickle your fingers across the books.
Feel your fingers graze across the books as you walk along and as the bookshelves disappear behind your back.
The only thing in front of you is the path to that doorway.
And behind you is just bright,
White,
Empty space.
Allow yourself to walk through this hallway for a few more breaths.
In two,
Three,
Four,
Out two,
Three,
Four.
Once you've reached that open doorway,
There is nothing behind you anymore.
The bookshelves have vanished.
The books with all the titles of all the thoughts have gone.
And you step on the other side of that doorway.
And on the other side of that doorway is a sanctuary.
It's bright and green and lush.
There's wildflowers and trees.
There's a stream running through it.
And it's the temperature that you like.
And at the end of that stream are the people that mean the most to you.
This collection of people are your why.
Could be your family,
Your friends,
Your best friends,
Your pets,
Your kids,
Your parents,
Your siblings,
Your coworkers.
And they're waiting for you.
So you get to walk up to them now.
Give them a hug.
Laugh with them.
Talk with them.
Skip rocks if you want to.
That big empty space that was once full of bookshelves is no longer in your mind.
You're now in the present.
And you're now with what matters most.
So I invite you to stay there for a few more breaths.
And join your time with those that mean the most.
I invite you now to wiggle your toes,
Wiggle your fingers,
And come back to your physical body.
I hope now that you felt a little bit more at ease in your thoughts.
And you can come back to this practice at any time,
Whether it be this guided meditation itself,
Or if you'd quickly like to close your eyes at any point that you're feeling stressed,
Anxious,
With too many things to do,
Or too many concerns for the things you've done.
Too many thoughts are bogging you down.
And you're not living in the present moment at that time.
Close your eyes,
Put those thoughts on those books,
And stack those books into that bookshelf just for a little bit.
Turn around from it and let that bookshelf disappear.
Allow yourself to come back to what really counts,
What really matters.
And I hope you are feeling much more in the present moment and that you are reminding yourself of what truly matters.
Namaste.
