Welcome,
Friends,
To this body relaxation meditation for the flower full moon.
Find a comfortable position,
Either lying down on your back or sitting with your spine gently supported.
Allow your hands to rest softly.
And if it feels okay,
Let your eyes close.
Take a slow,
Deep breath in and gently exhale,
Let it go.
Again,
Breathe in slowly and release.
Allow your breath to settle into its natural rhythm.
No need to change anything.
Just let the breath breathe on its own.
Full moons represent endings and the completion of cycles.
Like flowers that bloom after weeks of quiet growth beneath the soil,
Perhaps you're witnessing the culmination of seeds that were planted in your life.
Some are blooming beautifully and some cycles are ready to close.
In your mind's eye,
Imagine that it's evening and you're standing at the entrance to a peaceful garden that's filled with your favorite flowers,
Maybe daisies or roses,
Lilacs or azaleas,
Or sunflowers standing majestic and tall,
Even in the moonlight.
The sky above is illuminated by the soft glow of the flower full moon,
Casting gentle silver light across the path before you.
Step slowly into the garden and with each step,
Your body begins to relax.
Notice the ground beneath your feet.
Feel the calm spreading upward through your toes,
The bottom of your feet,
The top of the feet to your ankles.
Let them soften and release.
Walk a little bit further along the garden path as the moonlight filters through the overhead.
As you continue,
Relax your calves,
Your shins,
Your knees.
Tension melts away with each step.
The air is gentle and calm.
As you breathe,
Perhaps you smell the scent of fresh blossoms.
Your thighs soften.
Your hips relax,
Supported and at ease.
You come to a small archway that's covered in blooming flowers.
And as you pass beneath it,
Allow your stomach to soften,
Letting it gently expand as you inhale.
And as you exhale,
Release any holding,
Any tightness.
Your lower back unwinds,
Your mid-back.
Your upper back relaxes and your shoulders drop gently,
Heavy and calm.
As you continue walking through the garden,
You notice some petals drifting softly to the ground around you.
Reminders that endings are natural.
Nothing is forced.
Things simply complete their cycle and make room for new growth.
As you move deeper into the garden,
Feel your arms relax.
Your upper arms soften,
Your elbows,
Your forearms release.
Your hands grow warm and steady and heavy at your sides.
You've reached quiet clearing filled with flowers in full bloom.
Each flower represents something you've nurtured.
Maybe there's been growth in your job.
Maybe there's been healing in your body.
Maybe you've had more patience with family,
Friends,
Co-workers or your life partner.
Maybe you've been cultivating more understanding of other people's thoughts and feelings.
Or maybe you've been trying to understand your own thoughts and motivations more clearly.
Pause here and notice which flowers feel especially bright.
These are the seeds or intentions that have blossomed.
You also notice a few petals falling gently to the ground and these represent what's complete.
Old worries,
Habits or chapters that are ready to end under the full moon's light.
Bring your awareness to your neck and feel it lengthen and relax.
Let your jaw soften,
Your cheeks relax.
Let your eyes rest gently in their sockets.
Feel your forehead smoothing out.
The moonlight now bathes your entire body.
You feel calm,
Grounded,
Peaceful.
For the next few moments,
Sit quietly in the garden breathing slowly.
The flowers sway softly around you.
And let yourself feel supported by the earth beneath you.
As you bathe in the relaxing glow from the moon above,
Take a slow,
Deep breath in and let it go.
When you're ready,
Begin to walk back along the garden path.
With each step,
You bring this calm with you back into the world.
Begin to notice your body again.
Feel your feet,
Your legs,
Your hands.
Maybe gently wiggling your fingers and toes and maybe stretching your arms and your legs.
Take one final deep breath in and gently release it.
Slowly open your eyes and come back to the space around you.
Friends,
Carry the peace of the garden and the wisdom of the flower full moon with you.
A reminder that every ending makes space for new blossoms.
Namaste.
Namaste.
