Welcome to this meditation where we explore how to survive and find peace each day while caring for a loved one with dementia.

If you have a loved one living with dementia or Alzheimer's,

You might be carrying a lot of stress and uncertainty.

Each day may bring surprises,

Challenges that feel beyond our control.

As humans,

We crave structure and predictability,

But caring for someone with dementia often invites us to embrace the unpredictable.

Perhaps,

You're the primary caregiver,

Directly walking through the storms that your loved one faces,

Or maybe your loved one lives in a care facility and each phone call or visit brings unknown questions.

How will they be?

What will the next few moments look like?

This experience gently teaches us to stay present,

Moment to moment,

Without dwelling on the past or worrying about the future.

Even when difficult moments arise,

They often pass quickly like waves on the shore.

We learn to release,

Surrendering to whatever each moment brings.

So,

Let's take a few moments to breathe deeply and gently repeat a mantra that you can carry with you throughout your day.

To begin,

Find a comfortable seat,

Close your eyes or soften your gaze,

And take a deep breath in and exhale,

Let go of any tension.

Now begin to notice the natural rhythm of your breath and allow it to lengthen and feel your body begin to relax,

Easing into stillness.

When you're ready,

Gently begin to repeat this mantra to yourself.

May my breath guide me through every moment that comes today.

May I release any negativity with each exhale.

May my breath guide me through every moment that comes today.

May I release any negativity with each exhale.

May my breath guide me through every moment that comes today.

May I release any negativity with each exhale.

Friends,

It's time to release the mantra and come back to the space around you.

Take one last deep breath in.

I hope you carry this sense of calm and presence throughout the rest of your day.

Remember,

Just as your breath flows moment to moment,

You too can navigate whatever comes with patience and compassion.

May you find strength and peace in each moment.

Namaste.
