Let's face it,
Most of us are glued to our smartphones and devices and so for most of
our waking life we are bombarded by messages,
Marketing and we're surrounded by expectations.
And sometimes,
Frankly it's too much.
We've got the expectations we impose on ourselves.
I need to do this,
I must be this,
I must change in this way.
We've got the expectations others have of us.
You must do this,
Why haven't you done that?
We've got society's expectations of us and we've got the pressures of the daily grind.
We're told that the clock is ticking and that time waits for no man or woman.
Our timelines show us eight ways to beat procrastination,
Ten ways to lose belly fat and nine ways to
rekindle romance.
And it feels like everything's saying,
Be better,
Do better,
Be more productive,
Listen
to me,
Don't listen to them,
Buy this.
And it's always buy this,
Buy this and it will solve all your problems,
Oh and whatever
you do,
Do not age.
And it's too much,
It's exhausting and it's mostly a load of old commerce driven cobblers
if you ask me.
So in this practice I thought we'd just acknowledge the environment that we are living in and
explore how we can develop our own bubble of resistance in which you do you,
You do
your life in your own way and in your own time and just kind of sit with that idea in
your own way and in your own time.
So take a load off and settle into your space now,
In your own way and in your own time.
You can soften your brow,
Let your shoulders drop,
Sink into the surface that you're resting
on,
I'm not trying to sell you anything,
You're fine as you are.
You can let your guard down and let go,
Settle and in your own way and in your own time simply
notice the breath in the body,
The in-breath and the out-breath.
When your mind wanders in your own way and in your own time gently bring it back to breathing,
Body knows how to breathe,
The breath,
Nothing else.
In your own way and in your own time noticing your body,
How does your body feel and what
sensations are there,
Connecting,
Nothing else,
Sitting,
Lying,
Standing,
In your own
way and in your own time,
Bringing the mind back when it wanders,
Very gently,
As supposed
to be,
To simply exist,
The rhythm of the breath,
Sensations in the body,
Remembering life is a gift,
You're precious,
A daily practice or a regular practice,
In your own way and in your own time,
Creates a protective bubble,
A break from expectations and messages,
Marketing,
So well done for creating this space for yourself today,
Keep doing it,
Thank you so much for practicing with me today and remember in your own way and in your own time as far as possible.
