In the Buddhist tradition there are five remembrances,
Five inalienable truths that are intended to be recited and memorized.
Whatever your belief system,
These remembrances are a simple,
Compassionate reminder of what is important.
They can serve to wake us up from our lethargy,
To remind us of the importance of living in the present moment and being grateful for what we have without clinging on.
They are a reminder that how we live,
Our actions really matter.
This practice includes prompts based on each remembrance,
Followed by a period of silence for reflection and noticing the breath.
