Community and connection are so important for a healthy, happy life. This practice gently explores how we can invite more healthy connections into our lives that support us to flourish. This practice is particularly useful for those of us who are a little shy or introverted and find time and space to think helpful. Music is by Gentle Sounds from Pixabay

We all benefit from human connection.

All of us,

Even the introverts,

Even the shy among us,

The homebodies.

We all benefit from social connections,

From community.

We all benefit from coming together regularly with people who share our interests,

Passions,

People who we can be ourselves around,

And ultimately people who make us feel good about ourselves and feel good about life.

Some people have very strong and wide connections already,

With family,

Friends and organisations such as faith groups.

It's not necessarily the number of connections,

It's the quality of those connections.

It's worth seeking out and developing good quality connections with new communities.

And some of us do seek to do this in order to open up our worlds.

By being here it's likely that you're thinking about finding your tribe,

And you're thinking about new ways to open up your world.

So taking a minute now to think about your life and your connections,

And just considering your openness to connecting with new people and new groups.

Now this isn't work,

This is your soul's work,

Your life's work.

And so the litmus test is,

How do I feel around these people?

When you meet new people,

When you connect with new groups,

Think about how you feel physically.

Do you feel relaxed and open,

Or do you feel tight and tense?

Are you able to be yourself,

And do you feel good about yourself when you're with these people?

Essentially,

Does your spirit take to them?

So as you open yourself up to life,

New people,

New communities,

As you seek to find your tribe,

Be guided by your spirit.

Similar interests are a really good place to start.

Creative arts,

Movement,

Travel,

Sports,

Skills.

Taking a moment now to think about what you enjoy,

Or what you'd love to try,

That would also involve you meeting new people,

New groups,

New communities.

And one of the great benefits of the internet and of social media,

Is that a simple search throws up a myriad of options.

We can connect to people both in person and online,

But to get the benefits,

We ideally want to connect with people in person.

And don't overthink it.

You don't need to connect over something you're good at or know a lot about.

Not everything in life has to be about productivity or progress.

Remember,

This is not work,

This is your life,

This is your soul's work,

Your soul's purpose.

This is about living a great life,

This is about flourishing,

This is about connecting with people who make your life better,

Who expand your horizons,

From whom you learn and who learn from you.

So it's just about you being willing to show up and being open to saying hello and maybe having a conversation.

So take some time now to think about the steps you can take to connect with new people now.

Brilliant.

Letting the following words wash over you,

Or repeating them silently to yourself,

Or out loud if that's appropriate and you feel comfortable doing so.

I am open to making new connections and to meeting new people.

I will be guided by what makes me feel comfortable and relaxed in my spirit.

I know there's nothing to fear,

Most people are positive,

Friendly,

Warm and welcoming.

I deeply and completely love,

Honour and accept myself.

I know that finding my tribe will help me flourish.

And one more time,

I know that finding my tribe will help me flourish.
