Hello and welcome.
My name is Morgan Norval,
And I'm going to be guiding you through a meditation that's centered on releasing and shedding old layers of who you used to be or who you have had to be for your own survival.
To get started,
I'd like you to find a comfortable position,
Either seated in a chair or lying down flat on the ground.
We're going to start by taking in a few grounding breaths,
So breathing in through our nose and then releasing it out through our mouth.
With each inhale,
I'd like you to breathe in just a little bit deeper than you did the time before.
And with each exhale,
I'd like you to maintain a slow and consistent stream.
Continue in a rhythm that serves your body.
Continue at a pace that works for you.
Good.
Once you get to that final breath cycle,
I'd like you to begin to visualize yourself seated outside in the rain.
Though you are alone in this space,
You are not isolated and you are not shut off from the rest of the world.
You're simply stepping out into an element so that you can connect with the present moment and yourself.
As you see yourself sitting in the rain,
Feeling it gently come down over your shoulders,
Over your body,
I want you to think of all the versions of yourself that you had to be,
Expectations that may have been placed upon you unfairly,
Stereotypes or even limitations that were forced on you simply because of who you are.
As you think of these things,
I want you to see them as layers that are blocking who it is that you are truly meant to be.
And as those layers adhere to your skin,
Adhere to your surface,
Blocking out the rain and blocking out the space you need to grow,
I want you to allow the rain that is falling around you to just soften those layers.
Look those layers down little by little.
Visualize those layers as they become weak and lose their grip over you.
Feel as the rain once again begins to make contact with your skin.
Feel once again what it's like to be you,
A version of you that is unrestricted,
That is refreshed,
That is limitless,
That breaks the mold,
One that you were never meant to fit in to begin with.
Inhale as you continue to feel those layers slough away from your skin and exhale as you settle in to who you were always meant to be.
For however long it takes,
I'd like you to just sit in the rain,
Allow yourself to be washed clean,
Allow yourself to be reborn,
And allow yourself the space and permission to show up as who you've always dreamt to be and not who others wanted you to be or needed you to be without any regard to your own happiness and passions and success.
The longer you sit,
The clearer your skin becomes.
There's nothing clinging to you anymore,
Nothing blocking you.
Things that do not belong to you no longer have a grip on who you are and you are free.
Inhale and exhale.
One last time,
Breathing in through our nose,
Allowing that air to settle in to our new being and exhaling,
Pushing away any expectations or stereotypes or limitations that never even belonged to you in the first place.
Believe this meditation.
If you are ready,
I invite you to bring movement to your toes,
Your fingers,
Gently move your neck.
And when you are ready,
You can open your eyes.
