Hi,
My name is Morgan Norvell,
The owner and founder of Budding Lotus Meditation.
And today I'm going to be guiding you through a sleep meditation.
I want you to begin by either putting in headphones or putting your phone somewhere where it's not within arm's reach.
From here,
I'd like you to get comfortable in your normal sleeping position and allow your eyes to gently close.
Good.
As you lay here,
I'd like you to begin to connect with your body in this present moment by picking up on the sensations of laying in bed.
What does it feel like for your sheets to rest gently on top of you?
How does it feel to have your weight be supported by your mattress?
Do you feel warm or are you cool?
Do you feel any discomfort or are you completely and totally relaxed?
If you are feeling discomfort,
I'd like you to take the next few moments to get comfortable.
This might not even be physical comfort,
But allow yourself to be emotionally comfortable.
Allow yourself to enter this space judgment-free and allow yourself to release all of your concerns and worries.
Allow your mind to rest just as much as you allow your body to rest.
From here,
I'd like you to begin and visualize yourself floating on a body of water just on the surface like you would if you were swimming.
I want you to know that you are safe from physical harm but also from emotional and mental harm.
The environment that we are creating together is here to soothe you and to help lull you into restorative and peaceful sleep.
As you float on the water's surface,
I'd like you to allow your body to just relax.
Allow your joints to soften.
Allow your muscles to lay dormant.
First of all,
I'd like you to ask your mind to just turn the volume down.
Maybe you're not able to clear all of your thoughts all at once,
But you are able and capable of just turning down the volume a little bit at a time.
You can achieve this by just asking worrisome thoughts to take a seat in the back,
Dismiss them,
Let them know that they are not needed in this moment in time and that if it is really pressing,
You will get to it in due time.
But now is not that time.
Inhale and exhale.
Good.
As you feel your mind and body settle,
You start to realize that there are less and less ripples that move off of your body as you float on the water's surface.
This is the new goal for you during this time.
I want you to achieve such stillness that your imaginary body does not lead to any disturbances on the water's surface.
Know that you are capable of achieving this stillness,
This inner peace that translates into your physical body,
And know that you have plenty of time to do so.
You are in a judgment-free zone,
A space where you can explore and grow and give yourself what you need to be at peace.
Allow yourself to fall still.
As we sit here together,
You may find yourself getting sleepier and closer to falling asleep,
And know that it is more than okay and even encouraged for you to leave me at some point in time for you to fall asleep,
So do not think you are missing out or that you are not receiving the full experience.
Allow yourself to care for you exactly how you need to.
You are safe to do so.
Now,
Can we move to a few questions?
