Hello and welcome.
My name is Monica.
And I am grateful that you are here with me today.
This meditation is an invitation to let go,
Not by forcing anything to change,
But by creating a little more space around whatever you are carrying.
Find a comfortable position.
Either sitting or lying down.
Allow your hands to rest easily.
If it feels comfortable,
Gently close your eyes.
Take a slow breath in.
And allow a long,
Soft breath out.
Again,
Breathing gently.
And slowly let the breath go.
Feel the weight of your body supported beneath you.
You don't have to hold yourself up completely.
For these next few moments,
Allow the ground,
The chair or the surface beneath you to support some of your weight.
Notice where your body may still be holding on.
Perhaps there is tension around your shoulders.
Maybe your jaw feels tight.
Perhaps your hands are holding more firmly than they need to.
There is nothing you need to fix.
Simply notice.
Sometimes when we want to let go.
We begin trying very hard to relax.
We tell ourselves that we should feel peaceful.
That we should stop thinking.
That we should release what is troubling us.
But letting go cannot always be forced.
Sometimes the gentle's beginning is simply to stop fighting what is already here.
Take another slow breath in.
And as you breathe out,
Silently say,
I don't have to change this moment.
Again,
Breathe in,
And breathe out.
I don't have to change this moment.
Notice what happens when you allow things to be as they are,
Just for now.
You do not have to approve of everything.
You do not have to understand everything.
You are simply giving yourself permission to pause.
Bring your awareness to your hands.
Imagine that you are holding something in them.
Perhaps it is a worry.
A decision.
A conversation.
Or something you have been trying to control.
You don't need to know exactly what it is.
Simply notice what it feels like to hold it.
Is there effort in your hands?
Tension in your arms.
A sense of pressure somewhere in the body.
Now,
Imagine loosening your grip just a little.
Not dropping everything.
Not pushing it away.
Simply holding it less tightly.
Take a breath in.
As you breathe out,
Silently say,
I can soften my grip.
Again.
I can soften my grip.
Feel your hands becoming a little more open.
Your fingers a little softer.
Your shoulders a little less involved.
Perhaps the situation is still there.
But you no longer have to hold it with all your strength.
Imagine placing what you are carrying beside you for a moment.
You can return to it later if you need to.
But right now,
You are allowed to rest.
Silently repeat.
I release the need to solve everything right now.
I release the need to solve everything right now.
Allow these words to move gently with your breath.
There may still be thought.
There may still be uncertainty.
Let them be here without following every one of them.
You are not trying to empty your mind.
You are simply allowing yourself to step back.
Perhaps you can sense a little more space around the worry.
A little more space inside your chest.
A little more ease in your breath.
And if nothing changes,
That is okay too.
You are not failing.
Letting go is not something you have to achieve.
It can begin with one breath.
One softer thought.
One moment of no longer pushing.
Bring one hand to your heart.
Or rested somewhere comfortable on your body.
Feel the warmth of your hand.
And silently say,
I have done what I can for now.
I allow myself to be supported.
I surrender this moment without forcing.
Take a slow breath in.
And let it go.
Now,
If it feels right,
Silently offer whatever you are carrying to something larger than yourself.
To life.
To the universe.
To God.
To your higher self.
Or simply the quiet wisdom within you.
You might whisper,
I surrender.
Show me the way.
Then,
Allow yourself to listen.
You do not need to receive an answer.
You do not need to feel anything special.
Simply rest in the possibility.
That you do not have to carry everything alone.
Take a few quiet breaths here.
Now,
Slowly begin to bring your awareness back to your body.
Feel the support beneath you.
Notice the space around you.
Gently move your fingers and your toes.
Perhaps roll your shoulders softly.
Take one final nourishing breath in.
And slowly let it out.
Carry this reminder with you into your day.
You do not have to force yourself to let go.
Sometimes it is enough to soften your grip.
And allow life.
To meet you there.
May you feel guided and healthy.
And then you're ready.
Gently open your eyes.
Namaste.
