When I experienced the Loving Kindness meditation for the first time, I struggled to connect with this attitude and feeling towards myself. It was easier to wish well to others. This partly had to do with the meaning that I had ascribed to the word "love". In this guidance, I offer simple ways to recognise the self-care, love and compassion that is already and effortlessly here, before extending this nourishment to others. It is suitable for beginners who find this practice challenging.
