We all struggle in life and often, the things we struggle with are historical and are best left in the past. In this 'Acceptance And Commitment' Therapy practice, Christopher first guides you into a gentle meditation, then takes you through a visualization designed to let go of the weight of struggle.

Dropping the struggle.

Embracing what you cannot control.

Life often asks us to carry things we cannot change.

The more we fight against them,

The heavier they become.

In this practice,

We'll explore what it means to let go of resistance.

Not by giving up,

But by softening into acceptance.

And by doing so,

We can find freedom in the present moment.

Find a comfortable position where your body can fully relax.

Close your eyes and allow your hands to rest gently at your sides or in your lap.

Take a deep breath in through your nose and hold it softly.

And when you're ready,

Exhale slowly.

And again,

A deep breath in through the nose.

And this time,

When you exhale,

Feel the weight of the day begin to melt away.

Feel the support of the surface beneath you,

Allowing yourself to fully let go into this moment.

Turn your attention to the breath.

Notice the natural rhythm of each inhale and exhale.

With each inhale,

Feel your body revitalizing,

Receiving what it needs.

And with each exhale,

Let go of anything that no longer serves you.

Silently say to yourself,

I am here,

I am safe,

I am open to this experience.

Allow your breath to guide you,

Gently.

Now,

Take a moment to notice what you might be struggling with today or something that you often struggle with.

Perhaps it's a thought,

An emotion,

Or something outside of your control.

Without judgment,

Bring this struggle to mind and hold it gently,

As if you're cradling it in your hands.

Silently name it.

And you can say,

This is my struggle and it's okay to feel this way.

Imagine that you're carrying a heavy backpack and it's filled with the weight of this struggle.

Feel its heaviness pressing on your shoulders,

Making each step harder to take.

And now picture yourself slowly unclipping the straps and letting the backpack fall with a thump to the ground.

Notice the lightness in your body as you let it go.

The weight is still there,

But you no longer need to carry it.

Silently say to yourself,

I choose to release the struggle.

I allow myself to be free.

Struggle doesn't mean failure.

It simply means you care deeply.

But fighting against what cannot be controlled only tightens the knots within you.

By letting go of resistance,

You open yourself to peace.

Peace that's always here.

You are not giving up.

You are giving yourself the freedom to breathe.

Take a deep breath in through your nose and exhale slowly.

Feeling lighter,

Freer and more grounded.

Bring your awareness back to the breath,

This present moment.

Feel the surface beneath you,

The air on your skin.

When you're ready,

Gently open your eyes and carry this sense of release with you and remember that it's okay to let go.

You don't need to carry that rucksack filled with struggle around with you.

May you find peace in the present and strength in the lightness of letting go.

I will be using this when struggles come along. The feeling of dropping the weight was so powerful. I could feel myself let go and a small portion of the struggle I was thinking of. Definitely one to repeat. A fantastic meditation thank you Chris 🙏
