"The Kindness Garden: A Children's Meditation" guides little listeners on a nurturing journey of self-compassion and self-love through the metaphor of gardening. Starting with finding a comfortable spot and taking deep breaths, children are invited to imagine themselves in a radiant garden where they plant seeds representing kind acts towards themselves, such as compliments and gratitude. As they tend to their seeds with care, these seeds grow into vibrant flowers, symbolizing the flourishing of self-kindness and love within. The meditation not only encourages the practice of positive self-talk and gratitude but also reminds children that they can return to this inner garden of kindness whenever they need it, fostering resilience and a positive self-image.

Welcome sweet soul.

Today we're going on a magical journey to a very special place called the kindness garden.

Before we start,

Find a comfortable spot where you can sit or lie down.

Close your eyes and take a deep breath in and out.

With every breath,

Imagine you're walking down a beautiful path surrounded by the most colorful flowers you've ever seen.

The sun is shining warmly on your face and you feel safe and happy.

You're about to create your very own kindness garden.

In front of you,

There's a basket filled with sparkling seeds.

Each seed represents a kind act you can do for yourself.

The first seed is a compliment seed.

Pick it up and feel its warmth.

Find a spot in the garden to plant your compliment seed.

Find a spot in the garden to plant your compliment seed.

As you dig a little hole and cover the seed with soil,

Think of a nice thing that you can say about yourself.

Maybe you're a good friend or good at drawing.

Whisper this compliment to your seed.

With a water can filled with glittering water,

Gently water your compliment seed.

Imagine as the water touches the seed,

It starts to grow,

Absorbing your kind words.

Suddenly,

You see a sprout pushing through the soil.

It's growing.

Quickly,

Reaching up to the sun,

Blossoming into a beautiful flower.

This seed represents your self-kindness and the love you're growing inside of you.

Now,

Let's plant another seed.

This one is a gratitude seed.

Plant it in the garden and think of something you're thankful for about you.

Maybe you're grateful for your sense of humor or your ability to solve puzzles.

Water the seed with your gratitude.

Imagine that gratitude is a seed that you can use to help you solve problems.

Now,

Look around your garden.

You see many flowers blooming,

Each one from a seed of kindness and love that you've planted for yourself.

Feel the warmth and joy of these flowers in your heart.

Remember,

Your kindness garden is always here for you.

Anytime you feel sad or lonely,

You can come back and plant more seeds of kindness.

The more you care for your garden,

The more love and joy you'll feel inside.

It's time to leave the garden now.

Take a deep breath in and out.

And feel the ground beneath you.

Gently wiggle your fingers and wiggle your toes when you're ready.

Slowly open your eyes.

Bringing back the warmth and the love from your garden into the world around you.

A great meditation, done with my 8 year old. We both enjoyed it.
