I want to guide you through a gentle practice of connecting with your younger self and offering them the love that they need.
Find a comfortable position,
Somewhere where you can feel safe and undisturbed.
And if it feels safe and right to do so,
Just go ahead and close down your eyes,
Or just stay here with me.
Just take a deep breath in,
And then breathe out.
Let it all settle.
And I want you to bring to mind that younger version of you again.
Maybe you,
As you were a child,
Or a teenager,
Or a young adult,
But if it feels safe,
I want to invite you to begin to imagine yourself at that age when you remember feeling vulnerable,
Or scared,
Or alone.
Start to bring that version of you to mind.
Really start to see them clearly.
As you see them,
Start to notice what they're wearing.
Start to notice that familiar space to you that they're sitting in.
Maybe it's an old house,
Or a bedroom,
Or somewhere where you used to play.
And as the image of them comes into mind,
Begin to notice what they're feeling.
Maybe there's a sadness or an overwhelm.
Now imagine yourself with all of your wisdom,
With your strength and love.
This version of you that has become who that child needed.
Imagine yourself walking into that room,
Coming in and sitting next to them,
Or maybe holding them,
Or simply being present with them.
And just go ahead and ask them what it is that they need.
What do they need to hear?
What do they need to know?
And if that answer isn't apparent,
Knowing who you are and knowing what they need,
Maybe you can tell them you're safe now.
You're loved.
You're enough.
Or perhaps it's,
I see how hard you're trying.
I see how brave you are.
I'm proud of you.
Or perhaps it's,
You don't have to carry this alone anymore.
I'm here with you.
Take a moment to really be present with your younger self.
Let them feel your love,
Your protection,
Your acceptance.
If they have something to say,
Listen.
If they just need to be held,
Hold them.
Stay here for a few more breaths.
Connected to this younger part of you.
Offering them all the love and kindness that they deserve.
As they allow for themselves to start to feel that love,
Start to imagine yourself bringing this younger version of yourself forward with you.
Letting them come and see your life.
Letting them know that you're safe,
That they're safe,
And that you are where you are because of them.
Let's start to take them back into this world.
Starting to notice all the sounds,
The smells,
The taste.
Drawing your hands together in front of you.
Experiencing touch.
And then just take a deep breath in and breathe out.
Let it all settle.
And when you're ready,
Go ahead and slowly flutter your eyes open.
Taking the space around you and enter back.
As you go forward this week,
Remember that you can always return to this practice.
Anytime that you catch yourself in that negative thought or that pattern of letting yourself feel unworthy,
Come back to that space.
Approach that inner child with gentleness and care and kindness.
Remembering they're always with you and they deserve all the love that you can give.
We'll end as we began.
With a deep breath in and breathe out.
And let it all settle.
Now,
Go take care of yourself and I will see you next week.
