We often go against ourselves in subtle ways — saying yes when our body says no, staying where our spirit has outgrown, or forgetting the rhythm that is truly ours. This gentle guided visualization by Ilana — the voice behind Mettamood — accompanies her talk “Betraying Yourself — Listening to the Body’s ‘No’,” the first in The Seven Patterns That Block Healing series. Through a symbolic journey beneath an ancient tree, you’ll release the small weights of self-betrayal and reconnect with the quiet wisdom that lives within you — in your body, your heart, and your soul. Let this practice be a moment of honesty, softness, and freedom — a reminder that your truth is your path home.

Take a deep breath and let yourself land where you are.

I'm Ilana,

The voice behind Metamode,

A space for exploring the invisible laws that shape our reality,

Coming home to yourself and healing through truth,

Beauty and self-love.

Let your breath slow down.

Feel your shoulders soften,

Your jaw relax and your belly expand gently with each inhale.

You don't need to change anything,

Just arrive exactly as you are.

Now imagine you're walking along a quiet forest path.

The air is soft and fragrant,

And sunlight filters through the leaves in golden threads.

You've been walking for a long time,

Carrying a bag over your shoulder,

A familiar weight you've almost stopped noticing.

Each step feels a little heavier,

As though something you no longer need is asking to be released.

Up ahead you see an ancient tree,

Tall,

Radiant,

Steady.

Its roots deep in the earth,

Its branches wide and open to the sky.

It seems to be waiting for you,

A silent invitation to pause,

To rest and to finally lay your burdens down.

You stop beneath its golden canopy,

Place the bag gently on the ground and sit down at the roots of the tree.

The air feels still,

As though the forest itself is listening.

You open the bag slowly.

Inside are several smooth stones,

Each one representing a small weight you've gone against yourself.

Take a deep breath.

We'll look at them together,

One by one.

The first stone glows softly gold.

It holds all the moments you said yes,

While your body whispered no.

When you pushed through exhaustion,

Agreed out of obligation,

Or moved through life trying to please instead of choosing.

Hold the stone in your hands for a moment,

Feel its weight,

The quiet tension it carries.

Then,

On your exhale,

Place it at the roots of the ancient tree.

Let the earth receive it.

Breathe in softness.

Remember,

Your needs are not burdens,

They are guidance.

The next stone is white,

Shimmering like moonlight.

It holds the times you've ignored your truth,

When you postponed your dreams,

Forgot your desires,

Lived by rules that no longer felt alive,

Or moved at a rhythm that wasn't your own.

Take a slow breath in.

And with your exhale,

Release what isn't truly yours.

Place the stone beside the golden one.

Feel how a little more space opens inside you.

Breathe gently.

Remember,

Your desires are sacred,

They are the compass of your life.

The third stone is pale blue.

It carries the weight of silence,

The words you never said,

The truth you softened,

The boundaries you crossed to stay loved.

Hold it near your heart and breathe.

Notice if your throat softens as you exhale.

Then,

Place the stone gently on the ground and imagine the air around you clearing.

Remember,

Your voice is not a threat,

It's a bridge back to freedom.

The next stone is deep green.

It holds all the responsibilities that were never truly yours.

The weight of keeping peace,

Of holding others up,

Of carrying what wasn't meant for you.

Take a deep breath.

And as you exhale,

Let the stone roll from your hand.

Feel the earth take it from you,

Easily and completely.

Remember,

You're not here to carry the world,

Only to walk your path.

The last stone is soft pink.

Warm,

Alive,

Almost glowing.

It holds all the times you've turned away from joy.

When pleasure felt unsafe,

When laughter seemed too light for your pain.

When you forgot that you're allowed to feel good again.

Breathe in deeply.

And with your exhale,

Imagine warmth spreading through your chest.

Let the stone rest with the others at the base of the tree.

Remember,

Joy is not indulgence.

It's life returning to you.

Now the bag is empty.

Lift it again,

Just for a moment.

Notice how light it feels,

Almost weightless in your hands.

The ancient tree glows softly above you.

Its golden light surrounding you,

Touching your shoulders,

Your heart,

Your belly.

Whisper inwardly.

It's safe to listen.

My inner voice is gentle,

And it's mine.

My know is sacred.

My truth keeps me safe.

My body always knows.

Sit quietly in that light.

Every breath is a small homecoming.

Awareness is where healing quietly begins.

When you're ready,

Rise slowly.

And take a few steps along the path ahead.

It feels lighter now,

Clearer.

You can sense your next true step.

The forest breathes with you.

The earth beneath your feet supports you.

Take a soft breath in.

And exhale gently.

May this be the beginning of walking your path with honesty,

Courage,

And peace.

Each time you honor your truth,

You create space for a deeper yes to life.

Thank you for being here,

And for honoring what's real.
