This is an emotional flashback.

Recognizing that I am in a flashback is the first step and I have already done that.

Great work!

I am safe and I will be okay.

The feelings are real.

I am feeling them.

These emotions make sense.

I am not strange or broken.

While the feelings are real,

Feelings are not facts.

I can feel unsafe but indeed be safe.

I can feel unlovable but indeed be loved.

I may feel that I will be stuck in this place forever.

I may feel like I have no choices.

Neither of these thoughts are true.

These feelings will eventually shift.

Time is often what's needed.

Even though it's hard,

Making human contact is helpful.

I do not need to feel shame for being in a flashback.

The same applies to crying or needing a hug.

I will do my best to show myself compassion.

Be gentle.

Be patient.

Be kind.

I will be okay.

I will be okay.
