Begin by taking a deep breath,
Exhale and relax.
Take another deep breath and hold,
And exhale letting go of all of your stress.
Take one more breath and hold,
And exhale letting go of any stress you've been holding onto.
Visualize a tree,
One specific tree you know or one you imagine that's near your workspace.
Keeping both of you aware of each other's existence.
Breathing air coming into you,
Air coming out of you.
Continue breathing air coming into the tree,
Air coming out of the tree.
If it is daytime the tree not only breathes but also photosynthesizes releasing so much oxygen.
Feeling amazed and grateful you're noticing you and the tree sharing the same atmosphere.
Noticing that as an animal her own breath is so much faster and more visible.
We're all so different but so similar.
Imagining your head extending upwards to reach the sun.
The tree glistens in the light as if also reaching for the sun.
Now imagining your feet reaching downwards below the surface of where you're standing.
And there below the ground you came to meet the roots of that tree.
You're both sharing the soil of this earth.
Now reaching out for a big stretch.
Stretch your arms to the side.
To up above your head.
Feeling the stretches deep in your breath.
And you can repeat the stretches.
Feeling alive and rejuvenated.
And you sense a gentleness coming from the tree.
A gentleness that might have just witnessed your aliveness.
That witnessed your own gentleness.
Your own harmony.
You're sensing harmony from the tree.
It is joyful being in commune with this tree.
Then letting your thoughts quiet and emotions calm down.
You start being receptive to the tree's presence.
Lessening being open.
Committing to your presence.
Whatever you do or do not receive.
Now feeling this quietude has served its purpose.
You start bidding farewell to the tree.
A hug,
A nod.
An acknowledgement of its presence.
You're ready to come back to the now.
Three breaths you come back to your present self.
Taking one breath.
Settling back into your physical body.
Breathing in again.
Feeling fresh new energy coming in as you breathe.
One more breath.
Remembering your bond with the tree if it feels right.
When you're ready,
Open your eyes.
Welcome back.
