This is a short version of a Loving Kindness meditation where we send wishes of wellbeing to ourselves. In these five minutes, we practice sending loving wishes to ourselves and either receive or simply be with these well wishes. At times of pain or discomfort, it may be important to be kind with ourselves so that we can develop a deeply rooted kindness to send to others. Transcript

Let's begin by taking a moment to allow your body to settle.

Find a comfortable position so that your spine can be long and straight with a natural curve on your lower back.

Let your shoulders be heavy,

Your belly be soft.

Today,

We'll be going through a loving kindness practice for ourselves.

We will use some phrases to wish ourselves goodwill and well-being.

Take a full breath in and a long breath out.

Allow the breath to settle the body and settle the mind.

In this practice,

I'll be providing a few phrases that you can either silently repeat or just listen and follow along.

May I be well.

May I be well.

May I be safe and free from suffering.

May I be safe and free from suffering.

May I be happy.

May I be happy.

As you repeat these phrases,

Feel what it's like to really let them in.

May I be well.

May I be safe and free from suffering.

May I be happy.

If it's uncomfortable to wish yourself well,

Try and see if you can release a little bit of resistance and let the phrases just be around you.

May I be well.

May I be safe and free from suffering.

May I be happy.

May I be safe and free from suffering.

Breathing in and breathing out.

Allow yourself to be fully present with whatever is here now.

Let's finish this loving kindness meditation by taking a full breath in and a full breath out.

You can open your eyes.
